We're supposed to be spending Christmas with us but FIL has a degenerative condition (similar to Parkinson's but not). A change in medication has meant he is quite unstable at present (and his confusion has increased) so they're staying home. Lovely MIL looks after him but is somewhat trapped as she won't leave him alone. Have a few pressies already but now need to get them in the post tomorrow and wondered if anyone could think of some extra special/ thoughtful gifts ? I'm thinking if DVDs, blanket but running a blank really with anything creative

Would a magazine subscription be appropriate? Does FIL have any interests that he might like to keep up?

Heated blankets are amazing
Hot choc gift set?
Coffee machine?

Lots of good suggestions on this thread, different situation but similar needs

If you want a luxe blanket, scarf or shawl, I really recommend So Cosy, although I'm not sure of their posting times

We bought my terminally ill gran a foot spa once. She really liked that.

There is a great website called ‘Don’t buy her flowers’ where you can create a bespoke gift package and they’re still delivering pre Christmas.

It’s not a cheap option, but they have loads of lovely things. They also do COOK vouchers you can include, which are super helpful if MIL wants a break from cooking.

I promise I don’t work for the company (!) but I have used it a lot for various new babies being born, friends in need of TLC etc.

Netflix subscription (if has smart TV).

Or depending on your budget, a smart TV. We grouped together and got FIL small one (£150) as he is pretty much stuck to home and MIL needs entertainment.

Audio book subscription?

What about a picture of them taken in their heyday in a nice frame? That kind of thing seems to universally go down well.
