Can anyone help me make sense of travel rules for transit in Belgium ?

Scared of flying.

So trying to get the Eurostar to Brussels. My DH and I are EU nationals, our DD is just British.

We want to travel to Belgium and then are getting picked up in a car to continue our travels to our home country in the car.

We don't have proof of onward travel, because we are just driving and that's it.

Is that allowed at the moment ? I can't find info for this particular scenario on the websites anywhere. The Belgian passenger locator form does ask if you have an onward flight booked, if you're transiting.

We are happy to do the tests etc. But just wondered if this is allowed at the moment ? So we will essentially stay in Belgium for less than 48 hours. Just getting picked straight up from the station to then continue our travels to home country in Schengen.

If you have the passenger locator form, you'll see that it has a section at the bottom for people who are not staying in Belgium for more than 48 hours. You enter the address where you'll be staying - i.e. the address in your final destination country.

As to whether you can actually reach your final destination, this depends on a number of factors. Travellers who have been in the UK cannot enter France, and it is unclear if you'll be allowed to transit through Germany (unless your destination is Germany and your spouse is a German national).

I don't really want to get into my exact destination. Thanks, this does seem to be the only information required to enter Belgium. So that's helpful. The rest is up to us really.

It doesn't really matter where you're going - it would seem that you cannot transit through France or Germany.

Good luck- we don't need to know where you are going, but the Belgian authorities will. Glad you are not flying incidentally.

The point that I'm trying to make is that the authorities in Belgium might not allow the OP to enter (or rather, they won't allow them to board the train at St. Pancras) if they don't believe that the onward journey is possible - e.g. if it involves driving through Germany or France.

I don't think all your facts are correct.

It's all good. It's all worked out. Getting to Belgium was no issue and neither is onward travel.

Thanks all ! Merry Christmas !
