Articulate Adult version or for Kids?

Which version should we go for if playing with a fairly even split of adults and children? Average child age around 10 but also a 5 and 8 year old.

Thanks

We've got both, with your youngest being 5 I'd go for the kids version, it's just as much fun for the grown ups but more accessible to the young and less likely to leave the youngest on the fringes not having fun.

The words are more recognisable to young (geography wise, famous characters etc) and the circuit is shorter so games are shorter in time. But the fun of the game is the funny way people describe things and get tied in knots avoiding saying the word, so that stays the same.

The 5 and 8 year olds will probably be one off plays. More frequent play with 10/11 year olds - still go for kids version?

Definitely go with the kids version. We play it with a 7yr old and 11yr old - both bright and articulate - and it is quite hard enough for them and for us!

My 11 year old who is bright and very strong reader still loves the kids version. It isn't easier as such it's just different cultural references. The board is shorter in length so you get round quicker which makes the games a bit more bite sized... Whether that's better or not depends on the family preference.

TopCatsTopHat · 20/12/2021 10:31

You could always go round the board twice if you wanted. Then it would be about the same as the grown up one.

The kids one is more than challenging enough for my very bright nearly 9 year old (and the adults!) plus the 6 year old can join in.

Great glad I asked now.

Gosh all these bright clever intellectual children! I'm thinking of getting it for my 9yr old with ASD but I think she might struggle with it.

Ha! It's only said to show the game has a broad appeal and not to dismiss it because it is says it is for kids. My dd is asd and a terrible reader, polar opposite to her brother in that respect, she also likes it (when in the mood) we just give her two turns of the egg timer instead of one to balance it out. Enjoy your games whoever you are.
