Just want what I paid

Is it just me or is this missing the mark when selling second hand? Our fb marketplace is flooded with stuff like this..no offers must be sold for £50 cos that's what I bought it for and want the money back etc.
I always though you charged about a third for used goods.
Another one...selling for £15.00 , no offers or going to tip tomorrow...er??Confused

I also think it’s weird. I’ve offered some tickets (slightly different I know) for £150, cost me £200 (fucking covid-cancelled last year and now I’ve got it). I’d have taken an offer, otherwise I’d have got nothing). I sell a lot on Vinted and put stuff with tags on for less than half what I paid.

I've never understood this either.

If I'm paying what you paid I'll go straight to the supplier and buy it direct from them and take all of the legal rights, warranty, etc, that go along with that.

3scape · 19/12/2021 12:51

I think you can assume "paid" they mean they don't have a receipt because they stole it.

Can ask what they like. If price is too high people won't buy.

Exactly. It’s bizarre.

Says who though?

Should I sell my PS5 for £180 because it's used?

I’ve only recently joined in the world of FB selling, and I had wondered how much “new” stuff had actually been stolen. An awful of people seem to have bought expensive items without trying them on or measuring the space first and are unable to take it back. Fireplaces, TVs, clothes, boots. Either people are a lot more clueless than I imagined, or fencing stolen goods is rife.

If you’re want to sell it, auction it and see what the market will bear.

I am amazed by people paying around 90 % of new for some used children’s toys. I’d rather pay the extra 10 % and have the guarantee.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 19/12/2021 13:02

People can put things up for what they want but I agree I wouldn’t buy something second hand, even in good or as-new condition, for the price I could get it new in the shop.

I do find it odd when people say they need to sell it for £X, no offers, but that if it doesn’t sell it’s going to the tip. Surely better to sell even if just for a fiver than throw away for nothing.
