Red rash on breast - posting for traffic please help (pic included)

I’ve had a small bump like a ingrown hair for a few weeks, been squeezing and picking at it most days (silly I know). There’s now a raised red rash nearby as you can see from the pic, but not actually surrounding the bump area.

I also had a punch biopsy for a lumpy area in almost exactly the same place two weeks ago, the bruise is still visible and again just to the side of the rash. The actual biopsy section would be exactly under the rash. Could it be related? Had two clear ultrasounds and a clear mammo plus clear biopsy but the rash wasn’t there then. The Dr checked out the ingrown hair and said it was totally innocent. The rash has only appeared in the last day or two. I also have some pea sized nodes in my neck but I’ve just had a throat infection. Rash not particularly itchy but I’m thinking about it now.

The rash is raised and looks a bit like hives, but I’ve heard Inflammatory Breast Cancer looks like that too 😣 can anyone help? I’m going mad, I’ve just had one health problem after another lately.

Op I get a rash exactly like that when my immune system is struggling - sometimes along with enlarged glands. Happened after both of my Covid vaccines.

OP, I'm the same as you I have exzema and reactions to most toiletries etc. I also have reactions to metal jewelry etc

Mine started off like yours as a small rash then turned into mastitis quite quickly, recognised oh too well..

I've had the odd twinges at the site as well and tried to do some research but couldn't find anything about reaction to the market

@Blosdom, thank you, I thought I was going mad thinking I had a reaction to the marker

Thanks very much for your replies everyone, they really calmed me down yesterday when the rash seemed determined to take over my whole boob!

Had a good sleep last night and have woken up to find it hasn’t changed size but most of it looks a lot less inflamed. Still not hot to touch or anything else sinister thank goodness! Slight stinging when covered in material still, so I am wondering if it could be a minor infection to do with the biopsy/titanium clip. I’ll ring the breast clinic at 9am and see if they have any cancellations.

Also I took a Benadryl in desperation yesterday which seemed to make sod all difference at the time but I’ll take another one today, it won’t hurt I guess.

Also would totally recommend drawing a line round it with eye pencil if anyone gets a rash, it’s completely stopped my brain from imagining it’s grown, wasn’t it smaller an hour ago etc 🤦‍♀️ Thanks @SirVixofVixHall for that suggestion x

Lots of people now react to titanium after it has been overused constantly for years (including in food additives). Why have they left a titanium clamp in your breast? Tell them to remove it. I attended a conference where dentists and surgeons were showing presentations of serious problems caused by titanium implants and plates (dental and body). Results included necrosis, inflammation, infection and severe allergic reactions.

Sickofworry · 20/12/2021 08:59

@DrNo007 how interesting! I did google it but could only find a few scant articles. There was a slight inference in some of them that there could be more cases than actually reported to the medical council (these were US articles I believe), but the general opinion was that it was a very rare occurrence.

Still, there was always ‘limited evidence’ that the hormonal pill made women loopy back in the 90s when I started taking it, and me and a few other friends had to come off it due to severe depression and anxiety. Likewise some medication my child took years ago had an adverse reaction that was only rarely recorded in medical journals. So these things can obviously be more prevalent than the recorded cases show.

Thanks again, I’m more convinced than ever that this is to do with the clip then. I did question its use at the time, but was told it was totally routine to leave it in, wouldn’t cause trouble, set alarms off etc 🤷‍♀️

Also apparently the clip is left in as a breadcrumb marker if they need to work out where my biopsy was in future months/years. It did make sense at the time, honest!

I can see the rationale of why they left the clip in but think you would be wise to insist they remove it. Apart from anything else if it is causing inflammation that can predispose you to cancer in that area.
