Died 21 years ago.

Pushed her son out of the way of a speeding boat and sacrificed herself.

Beautiful, smart, funny and talented woman.

@Dollywilde

I used to work with one of her sons, the one she pushed out of the way. He was such a lovely chap, we weren’t close and his mum never came up in conversation but I often thought how proud she would have been of him. Great guy.
Is he the one that is Ellie Goulding's manager?

I saw a doc about Fairytale of New York and it featured one of her sons think he's a music producer now?). He said for years he avoided hearing that song as it was just too painful to hear a song sung by his mother associated with the time of year that she died. I think he said that he's made peace with it now and takes comfort from the song.

Can't imagine how traumatic it must have been for her boys, the event itself and the fact that there was never any justice.

I was a fan from the time she had those cameos on French and Saunders a long long time ago, and she always seemed like a really good sort. The fact that she had the presence of mind to push her son out of the way in such a quick, frightening situation shows just how remarkable she was.

I think of her every time I swim in the sea such an awful way to die. I'm a big fan of hers (I named myself after one of her songs).

I think of her when I hear her songs on the radio, especially at Christmas. I hadn’t forgotten that she died saving one of her sons and that she never got justice.

Such a tragic death. I saw her live several times and thought she never got the recognition she deserved. One gig was so poorly advertised and attended that I danced on stage with her
The documentary was so sad, I felt so much for her mother who was trying so hard to get justice for her

@Sparklingbrook yes Smile

I always think of her at this time of year too. Amazing voice. Much missed.

IvoryViolets · 18/12/2021 15:31

She died instantly.. imagine the pain her son has been through knowing what his mum did for him. Awful and so tragic

Loved Kirsty. I have read about all of this before - absolute scandal. I bet her sons never really got over what they saw that day, she was a true hero.
