Nursery gift - help us decide

My husband and I are in disagreement on a gift for my sons nursery.

I thought it would be nice to get some baked goods from a local bakery but my husband thinks that’s a bad idea . He thinks gifting them something fresh means they are pressured to it on the day and not everyone will want that . Plus if other parents gift fresh goods as well it would definitely be too much . He would rather gift a tin of individually wrapped chocolates or something similar that the staff can take home with them.

Personally I would much rather received fresh goods from a bakery than packaged chocolates.

Nursery’s last day is on Wednesday but my sons last day is on the Tuesday before and that is when I will drop off the gift .

Please help us decide . Who is being more reasonable?

What kind of baked goods are you thinking of?

I’d go for chocolates and biscuits. They can be taken home for Xmas or kept at the nursery and eaten into the new year.
A hamper made up of tea/coffee/cappuccino sachets etc/biscuits is good to have at work.

I was thinking a mix of festive cookies, cakes and pastries.

That's alit to get through in one day, so if you do I'd make sure you include some paper bags so they can take stuff home with them.

Fresh stuff always seems a nicer treat but I see your partners point about the pressure on to eat it

I agree with your husband I'm afraid. Depending on the size of the nursery they may get quite a lot of food gifts and at least with the packaged stuff they can space it out (or dare I say it, regift some of it). They may also prefer packaged items from an allergies and/or covid safe point of view.

I think most people do wrapped things so a fresh option wouldn’t be an issue.

Having worked in a nursery before we’re happy to get anything from parents, so I really doubt anyone will complain no matter what they get!
