Katie Price has been given a suspended sentence after being caught, having taken drink and drugs, whilst banned from driving. Unbelievable and so very wrong.

@OneRuleForThem

Gosh why is everyone so determined for her to be punished for this? She has apologised and has seeked out help for herself. She didn’t kill anyone.
April 2008 - caught driving while using a mobile phone June 2008 - convicted over the April 2008 incident September 2009 - caught speeding at 99mph February 2010 - veered out of control into another lane while using a mobile phone, narrowly missing two other cars July 2010 - convicted over the September 2009 incident September 2010 - convicted over the February 2010 incident December 2010 - caught on camera speeding and banned from driving for six months July 2015 - convicted of failing to stop at a red light February 2018 - banned from driving for another six months July 2018 - photographed driving while disqualified January 2019 - banned from driving for three months because of the July 2018 incident October 2018 - found drunk in (crashed) vehicle February 2019 - banned from driving for an additional three months for being drunk in charge of a vehicle in the October 2018 incident October 2019 - banned from driving for two years over failing to provide details of the driver in the October 2018 incident. This ban was later reduced to 18 months, but she had a six-month ban from totting up penalty points so all together the ban ran through to October 2021 September 2021 - crashes car driving while still disqualified, having taken cocaine

I'm going to stick my neck out and suggest that people feel that apologising doesn't quite cut it any more.

Let's imagine I've punched you repeatedly in the face, over many years

Now I'm saying sorry. Again.

By your logic, I shouldn't be punished for assaulting you, because I didn't kill you, and I've said sorry. It doesn't quite work, does it? At what point do you think she should receive a punishment she can't ignore?

OneRuleForThem
Would you feel the same if next time and believe me there will be a next time if she killed a loved one of yours?

Maddymorphosis · 15/12/2021 22:23

Lindsay Lohan also got jail for violating probation..still not sure why KP has gotten away with so much

And believe me there will be a next time but you don’t know that. I don’t think you can judge someone on things they have not done.
Redglitter · 15/12/2021 22:42

I do. I'm judging her on her previous records. She is a persistent reoffender and never learns from ger mistakes. I only hope next time she breaks the law she doesn't injure or kill an innocent person

Nicknacky · 15/12/2021 22:46

@OneRuleForThem Can you point me to where she has apologised?

MissCruellaDeVil · 15/12/2021 22:53

She has been banned from driving 6 times! She was caught driving whilst banned twice, drives recklessly and she was even found drunk in her crashed car. Anyone else would have the book thrown at them.

Obsidiansphere · 15/12/2021 23:10

Yanbu, it’s disgraceful she’s gotten away with it again Angry

OhGiveUp · 15/12/2021 23:31

Forget expensive taxis at Christmas and New year then.
Just go out, have a skinfull and drive home.
After all, you will only get a slapped wrist, so long as you don't kill anyone.
Honestly @OneRuleForThem !!! That's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard anyone come out with in a long time.
KP is a repeat offender who has absolutely no respect for anyone, including herself.
All that's happened here is that she's been given permission to carry on.
She was probably advised by her lawyer to book herself into the priory, apologise and promise to be a model citizen to get a reduced sentence.....and it bloody worked by the look of it!

OneRuleForThem · 16/12/2021 00:22

I think people are over reacting. I don’t think there’s any point in participating again in this thread if everyone just disagrees with a single thing I say because their hate for Katie Price is too much. Anybody, don’t @ my name. I’m not interested in reading replies any longer from how this thread is now.

Sunbird24 · 16/12/2021 00:35

Looks like the police are planning to appeal the sentence.
I don’t hate KP, I kind of feel sorry for her in some regards (not relating to this though!), but she absolutely should have been imprisoned by now as she has repeatedly chosen to break the law, and it’s only through sheer dumb luck that she’s not killed someone as a result of her choices.

Theblacksheepandme · 16/12/2021 00:57

I don't hate KP but I think her behaviour is unacceptable and she has had no proper consequences for her actions.

toomuchlaundry · 16/12/2021 01:12

I would be disgusted by anyone who had acted in the same way she has.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 16/12/2021 01:33

Prison might have done her good - would give her time to detox, and might make her count her blessings if she realised the awful circumstances and backgrounds that drive some people to a life of crime. Maybe she would stop being so self obsessed and get a different view of the world.

I wonder how much weight Harvey's issues had on the case - maybe because he is likely very emotionally dependent on KP they were more lenient on her? Her love for him seems genuine, and no doubt he could be upset if she went to prison, but I do think she should have been sent to prison this time, as she has shown herself to be a serial offender.

Not yet. But she will. What will it take to make her stop? She is a danger to other road users and pedestrians.
Unescorted · 16/12/2021 05:54

It is not just Katy Price either. My DS was hit by a drunk driver who was 4.5 times over the limit. The driver got a suspended sentence only, He did not lose his licence because he needed it for work - he is a SEO art dealer on bond street. It was not his first drink driving offence.

My son was awarded £100 by the court, which did not even pay for the train ticket home. We ended up having to take a civil case to recover the cost of a replacement bike - funds that he is not allowed to access until he is 18. As the victim he did not get to make a witness statement as you would if he had been injured using any other weapon.

Sentencing for drink / drug, dangerous or poor drivers is a joke. If you inflicted serious injury or killed someone using any other method or weapon you would expect to see a custodial sentence. Quite rightly if someone used the defence of "I have anger issues, I didn't mean to stab him" there would be psychological assessments prior to sentencing. If a person kills or injures someone with a car they are most likely going to be banned for a year or 2 if they have been drinking or taking drugs. If they are sober and just shit at driving / fiddling with the phone / having a shave or doing their makeup they will most likely get points only.

Until there is recognition that a car can be a weapon when used incorrectly sentencing will be light. Language matters - each time a person is run over and it is reported that "X was hit by a car" remind the person writing it that the person was hit by someone driving a car. Until cars are autonomous it is the person behind the wheel who is responsible. You do not see reports of a gun shooting a person or a knife stabbing a pensioner. If the car and not a person was responsible then we should be banning cars given that they cause so much death an injury.

OhGiveUp · 16/12/2021 08:18

It's not just KP.I despise all drink drivers, along with drug drivers and folk using their phone while driving.
If it was up to me I would ban the bastards for life!

TurtleCavalryIsSeriousShit · 16/12/2021 16:07

@Unescorted, I'm so sorry to hear that. I agree with everything you have said. I do t live in the UK anymore. The country I live in is even worse regarding driving offences.

Someone hit us head on, when he was speeding and lost control of his vehicle. My DS (5) and I spent 6 MONTHS in hospital. DS is now paraplegic. He plead guilty to reckless driving and received a £250 fine!

People need to realise that the driver is responsible and the car is actually a weapon.

gogohm · 16/12/2021 16:13

You don't typically get a jail sentence for drunk driving unless you cause harm to someone. I (unfortunately) know people who have been convicted and they had to pay a fine and lost licence for a year

CallmeHendricksGingleBells · 17/12/2021 12:54

@gogohm What about if it's the sixth driving offence and you are driving under a current ban with no licence?

supersonicginandtonic · 17/12/2021 14:33

@gogohm persistent offenders do. Same with any crime.
