To thing it's not fair to restrict people who don't test negative after a 10 day isolation

Daughter and I have just had Covid and completed our 10 day isolation. We both had it mildly and are well. I'm double vaccinated, awaiting booster but tbh, not rushing to queue for one before christmas as I've only just had Covid and others need the booster more.

Local playgroup are saying we cannot return until we test negative on lateral flow tests.

AIBU to think this is ridiculous? Apparently it's common to continue to test positive after Covid and all the scientific data is that you are no longer able to spread the disease after 10 days (which is why the government set that as the isolation period).

Tested her and she is still positive. It's been over 10 days since her positive PCR. I know lots of people who have continued to test positive after Covid.

Yes she is the age where she shouldnt even have LFT used on her at all. It beggars belief.

Thanks to those of you who have flagged I've got to wait 28 days before booking my booster!

The original isolation period was 14 days and they reduced it to 10. So actually you may still be able to pass it on.

Just do a LFT. Most likely it’ll be negative anyway.

Cross post! So she may actually still be infectious. It can be spread after 10 days.

I thought the 14 days was the initial, cautious stab in the dark but once more data was gathered it was found that 10 days is sufficient.

At this point in term I'd leave it anyway until after Christmas. Likely you'll be negative by Jan. You're right about govt guidelines but I can't really blame a toddler group for being extra cautious.

I might just test myself in future though.

I'm sorry but there's absolutely no scientific evidence for that at all, please don't spread misinformation.
