Horrible Ryanair Policies

Having to cancel Christmas flights due to a ds with positive Omicron test. So stupidly had bought Ryanair. The 'free change fee' is a load of caveated baloney, only flights bought before Oct, only for travel before Dec 31st 2021.

It will cost us £90 per person (six of us) to change our flights to a later date in 2022, even though the flights will cost considerably less than the original flights. We've spent £650 already, and are not flowing in money, this was a big outlay for us, and we trusted them - so stupid to accept the 'No Change Fee' banner they fly all across the site without getting it'd be caveated into uselessness for anyone changing a Christmas period flight.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever buy Ryanair again.

It's giving away your money in these unsettled times. BA etc might be more expensive but you are not signing the money away for good should things change, so it has to be worth the difference - the BA flights were 20% more which seemed a lot but now seems a bargain compared to this lot. So upset by this, and so foolish too for buying them.

Will not make the mistake of ever ever buying Ryanair again.

If you buy a shit, you get shitty hands. I would rather walk than use those crappy airlines. I can't believe people still think paying the price of a Mars bar for a flight entitles you to anything other than a shitty ticket. One of the greatest joys of being old and self sufficient is never flying economy ever.

Travel insurance is so low probability, financially ruinous situations. Comparing that to appliance cover is misleading.

When my daughter was hospitalised in France the bills were huge. The private ambulance, the interpreter, the repatriation. Yes I could have found the €19,000, but thankfully I paid £50 excess and the whole thing went away.

Don't touch Ryanair with a bargepole!!

@PurpleNotebook

Ok, this is promising - talk me through the insurance situation. If I get it now pre-flight it'll work?
Haha no! You need to have purchased the travel insurance before your positive tests.

Don't touch Ryanair with a bargepole!!
Do my 200+ successful flights with no issues dont count for anything then?🤷‍♀️
Read up on everything, make sure you know what you are buying g, where the landing airport is in relation to where you want to go etc.
Forewarned is forearmed.

There are routes you cant fly unless you use Ryanair. If I had a choice, I wouldn't use them. I keep hoping they will go bust and a better airline will take over their routes.

Ryan air are shit yes No disagreement there. but you are at fault for not getting insurance in place

Yes they mean you are a tight bastard with no standards Grin

Ryanair aren't my favourite airline, but they are the only ones that fly to my daughters Uni city in Europe without a zillion plane changes so I suffer them.
In this case, I can't see what they have done wrong. However I wouldn't be booking a flight without having travel insurance. Even pre Covid. So in this case, sorry I think YABU.

JaceLancs · 16/12/2021 00:07

I had various holidays and flights cancelled in 2020 due to Covid I either received refunds or vouchers or could change dates easily
The only exception was Ryan - we lost over £500 and I will never ever ever ever use them again!!!

OP Its embarrassing you’re kicking off when you didn’t get insurance nor read the terms and conditions
