To suggest that Spielberg’s West Side Story is even better than the original?

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s just SO GOOD.

I’ve been singing my socks off and swishing my skirt a la Anita since seeing it last night.

POW!!

Dh & I went to see it before Xmas. Both loved it. I kept thinking how familiar the actor was who played Tony and was going to google him later, but on the way out my DH said “didn’t Tony look like our DS” and he does.
I thought they were very faithful to the original but the setting was more realistic and less like a stage set. The “American” number was amazing. Also nice that the actors sang rather than being dubbed over by unknown artists. Apart from Rita Moreno there were no other cameo actors slotted in for box office appeal.
