AIBU to give up and switch?

Been having manual car lessons for close to a year. Gear changes aren’t quite smooth when changing down quickly e.g for turning.
Got my second test coming up but not quite confident I’ll pass.
AIBU to switch to automatic lessons if I fail? It’s one less thing to think about.

Also thanks to everyone who replied either way ; may not be able to reply to all but reassuring to see so many people agreeing.

@exexpat I was thinking the same thing, I think what put me off was people in IRL being very negative about automatics. But then again maybe it's just my circle who judge people by their driving ability.

Who cares though - all i need is to pass and be on my merry way in a car...

We've 2 cars, a big one for the family which is automatic and a mini which I drive mostly which is automatic. We've never had any problems with them.

Electric cars are the future and they're all automatic.

Just go for a lesson in one and see what you think, not having to worry about changing gear whilst manoeuvring makes a huge difference to learners.

Definitely go with Automatic. I passed in a manual but hated it. Never looked back since driving automatic cars, so much easier!

I qualified in a geared car, very first temporary car was automatic (no one told me, 2 minute explanation in an underground car park when I stopped a passing director and asked why there was a pedal missing, then lauched into rush hour traffic in central London) - 5-6 years of a geared car, then didn't drive for 10+ years when I moved to central London.
I then needed to buy a car, and went for an automatic as I was a bit rusty after a 10 year gap - that and then fairly newish sat nav & I was away, never looked back, no real disadvantages.
As PP has said, electric cars don't have a clutch, if you're fiding it hard, why bother?

Definitely switch. I was in exactly the same position as you, and as soon as I switched to an automatic I sailed through my test. I always intended to retake it in a manual car, but never bothered as I enjoy driving automatics, and don't see the point of manual gear changes to be honest.
DH, who is a very competent driver and passed his test in a manual, now has an automatic because he much prefers the driving experience.

I've been driving for over 40 years, passed my test in an automatic and obviously have only ever driven automatic cars. They are increasingly popular.
