It might look worse over time if debris gets caught. It's a tough one, always difficult to raise a complaint, isn't it?

they're stone, aren't they? If so I don't think they are likely to get much better than that, the joints are usually slightly visible. Maybe a bit of filler to hide the joint better? The cut in the stone is fresh, that's the problem

if you have an L shape (so a corner) there has to be a place where two different directions meet? I don't understand how they could avoid that?

@Ozanj

You shouldn’t need joins unless you’re using granite and have a really large space to cover. The fact that they gave them to you in such a small space suggests they’re probably using offcuts from someone else’s kitchen. I’d be raising hell about this.
Not sure that is possible. Think how big the sheet if whatever would have to be.

Most work surfaces have joins in corners, except the reconstituted, sometime slip over, made to measure ones.

I assumed it would be a straight edge to edge like here. But regardless it’s a very obvious join- I take it it’s stone? Ask for a remedial to sort it.

I've just asked dh opinion who's a joiner and he says it doesn't look like it's been cut with a jig and looks more like it's been hand cut but can't be sure without a clearer picture. He also said the joint itself when butted up should be no bigger than 0.5mm and the 2 worktops should be flush.
