At the minute I'm unwell.
I have mental health problems which have left me unable to leave the house and a lot of physical symptoms.
I've had anxiety problems since 2010 and the last year after loosing my mum it's been bad.
I was awarded LCW so I get the same amount of money as a jobseeker but I have no prospect of getting a job because I'm unwell.
So I'm surviving on £300 a month

They know I'm unwell (I have psychiatrist letters I'm on high medication) but haven't been awarded LCWRA so won't be getting the extra £340

I can't survive on this money and I have bills to pay but I can't work.
Aibu to think they should help the people who can't work because they aren't well more?
How can they only give people the same amount as a jobseeker but the jobseeker will only be on benefits for a short time till they find a job.
I know I won't be well for a long time

Are you able to appeal?

redbledsx · 11/12/2021 21:12

@Riverlee I have a appeal in now but I have no hope tbh.
They will find a way to say I don't qualify
I've heard horror stories

I think the problem is your opinion is at odds with the system as to your ability to do some/any work long term.

Have you spoken to your doctor to consider any different treatment options? Some people will struggle with issues like yours long term, others will recover with support and treatment. Never say never xx

XenoBitch · 11/12/2021 21:29

All you can do really is appeal. Can you get further evidence from your mental health team?
When I applied for UC, I printed out and gave my CPN the form on this link....

redbledsx · 11/12/2021 21:29

I think it's confusing as it's not a long term award.
I can just be a short award then they re asses
So I don't understand it tbh

I'm sorry you're struggling op. I hope the appeal does something.

Just keep working on helping yourself back to recovery and perhaps in the not too distant future, you can pick up some hours working from home.

Haven’t you posted this before, it was deleted for some reason...

JayAlfredPrufrock · 11/12/2021 21:43

It sounds like you’ve given up. Which is a shame.

XenoBitch · 11/12/2021 21:45

Are you on PIP too? If you have mental health issues then it is worth trying to apply for that too.

Viviennemary · 11/12/2021 21:49

Are you getting other help such as your rent paid. Does your doctor think you are capable of work.

edification · 11/12/2021 21:51

Sound really tough. There are an increasing number of home working jobs nowadays, just needing a computer and not meetings or phone calls or anything too front facing. Is it any use looking at getting a few quid via that?

TheCreamCaker · 11/12/2021 22:02

Are you able to do some type of work from home?

I had Covid, Pneumonia, a stroke (all whilst on a ventilator for 2 weeks) in July this year, I'm on various medications now. I also have depression, but in the new year, I'm determined to get some type of employment.

Giving up is not an option for me, but you sound defeated.
