Reassure me boiler broken

Need reassurance this is not going to mean a new boiler. My boiler broke last night and waiting repair man today. Reassurance this is an easy fix.

I have heating but no hot water. Had hot water yesterday morning for my shower. The tap goes warm for a second then cold.

My boiler is old and parts are sparse. I just bought a new car that i collected this morning. I saved up for it. I hope my boiler doesn’t need replaced as savings will need to be dipped into. Wouldn’t of bought the car if my boiler broke beforehand.

Please reassure me this is an easy fix. Has the happened to you before? Tell me your easy missing hot water fixes.

I had a pots and pan bath last night. Desperately want a shower.

None of us will know what exactly the problem is and whether it's an easy fix. If you do need a new boiler you can do 0% finance now if you don't have the lump sum of savings available. Don't worry about it these things can't be helped sometimes.

How would we know without being qualified engineers who are looking at your boiler?!

I would think if the heating works the hot water can be fixed. Usually a switch thing - I know nothing about it but it happened to ours and we have a British Gas service thing and they came out and replaced something. It is 20 years old and needs replacing really but he fixed it.

My DP is a heating engineer, it's very rare he comes home and says he couldn't fix a boiler and needed to replace one. Fingers crossed its an easy fix

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous questions to be posted on here. How can any of us know? Ever if I was a plumber/boiler engineer I wouldn't know the answer to this until I had been and looked at the boiler. I hope you don't need a new one, but you say you have savings and this kind of emergency is exactly what savings are for. Also look into boiler insurance.
