Fitted sheets - aaarrrgh!

AIBU to have come to hate fitted sheets? They only ever fit well for a day or two and then they start coming off the corners of the bed and making everything wrinkly. Or am I just somehow not putting them on correctly?

@Blackmagicqueen try to M&S extra deep cotton fitted sheet, £29.50. The best one I've found. They don't seem to shrink or go all baggy after a couple of days. They're the only sheets I'll buy for our superking bed.

I'm doing 2x flat sheets now, given up on fitted because they are uncomfortable.

Mind you I do iron my sheets and I can't cope with ironing fitted sheets either.

I have this problem it drives me nuts

Blackmagicqueen · 11/12/2021 11:43

@itsutterlyshit thanks; appreciate the tip as so hard to find any that donr shrink! Even mybeautiful dorma sheets
have succumbed to shrinkage 😬

Princessbanana · 11/12/2021 11:47

Lidl fitted sheets are the best and they don’t shrink when you wash or dry them!

FriendofDorothy · 26/03/2022 21:50

I am resurrecting this thread in the hope that someone has found an extra deep fitted sheet that doesn't shrink in the drier.

I have bought several different brands but none are really working for me.

ClandestineAdulation · 26/03/2022 22:17

Have you tried Dunelm? They’re my favourite for deep fitted sheets!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 26/03/2022 22:23

M&S fitted sheets are my preferred choice as they aren't hugely expensive, good quality fabric and they have the depth needed to cover the entire mattress/topper and pad.

The trick to getting them on when they're tight isn't to pull the corners, it's to lay it on the bed turned inside out and then push your hand into the corner and turn it over. Repeat on the other side, make sure the top edge/head of the bed end of the mattress is covered and then do the same at the foot with it under tension. Then they don't move at all.

Do dunelm and M&S stay true to size after a trip through the tumble drier?

I tumble the M&S ones without any trouble.
Thismummyrunstheshow · 26/03/2022 23:19

I will only buy my extra deep fitted sheets from Dunelm.

BluebellsGreenbells · 26/03/2022 23:23

If you read the measure page it explains you need 10 inches depth for an 8 inch mattress for example - not the 8 inch sheet you would assume you needed!! Pays to read.

QuebecBagnet · 26/03/2022 23:24

I can’t stand buying a size up, they end up wrinkled. But I always buy deep ones and they’re fine.

Thewindwhispers · 26/03/2022 23:28

I hear you OP! After many years of struggling with it I always buy the size up now. King size on a double, superking size on a king… works great!

twoandcooplease · 26/03/2022 23:48

I can recommend this sheet. Fantastic!
