After a telephone appointment with my GP.

For the last 6 months, my periods have been totally ridiculous. Sometimes I bleed every 10 days. Sometimes it's 3 weeks maximum between periods.

Sometimes it's just spotting. Sometimes it's a 14 day long mega period.

I've also had night sweats.

I am age 30.

I've always had very regular periods, so this is concerning to me. But my GP said I either just need to "put up with this" or to go on the pill.

AIBU to think there could be something else the matter? (Peri menopause, polyps/fibroids/cancer.) I am not a hyperchondriac at all, but my husband and I are quite rightly a little bit concerned.

Should I go on the pill and potentially cover up potential symptoms?

I am considering going privately as I would have thought my gp would refer me for at least a blood test.

Would you ask to speak with another GP?

But only if you have private health over. It could get very expensive to self pay, in which case I would complain and try to see a different GP

No you shouldn't put up with it or try the pill to cover the symptoms. There's a lady on YouTube thst was told her irregular bleeding was just due to her contraception and told to get on with it,but by the time she was listened too she had stage 4 cervical cancer, not saying that to frighten you but please see a different Dr.

Goodness some of what you have said it so worrying.
My mum booked me an appointment with private gynaecologist. But I didn't realise it could stack up in Costs so much.

I'm going to suggest to her that I speak with another GP before going privately. Then if I get nowhere with them, then I'll continue down the private route.

My gut told me the initial GP was wrong. I should have pushed (was having a bit of one of those depressed/defeatest days so didn't contest her dismissive suggestion of going on the pill)

The more I read, the more I think it could be a fibroid. I suppose only US and bloods will tell.
