To be so sad over Angela Merkel retiring!

She was so inspiring! And it’s even more depressing she’s gone as there’s no women even looking like they can step into her shoes - I don’t mean in Germany. I mean any country in the G8 mixing with the worlds most powerful nations. Back to 100% old men in suits we go.

It does feel a shame. She seemed like one of the few world leaders who actually cared about effectively running a country, with the hard decisions and political compromises that involved, rather than grubbing for personal power/glory and pushing an agenda based on personal preferences.

I don't understand how people can say she was in power too long - the people kept voting for her, surely that is a sign of successfull leadership and much better than rubbish like the American system where good leaders are tossed out simply because of an arbitary time limit.
