To ask what the hell to get for this Secret Santa?!

Need some ideas ASAP!

Just started a new job and been entered into the Secret Santa (not an issue, I said I'd join in)

It's a £15 limit

Issue is, the guy I've got works remotely so I've never even met him! He comes in the office sporadically but not while I've been here yet.

All I know is he's early 30's

Any ideas?!?!?

@Kingstonmumof1

I got torn apart on here last year for saying I made a charitable donation as a Secret Santa gift (Christmas dinner for a homeless person). I stand by that being a better use of money than plastic tat.
It is a much better use of money, but it's not Secret Santa, that's the problem.

You should have opted out of SS (because it's a dreadful idea) and then given the money to charity. But agreeing to take part and then not doing it is unfair to everyone else.

Yeah, don't join in SS and then do a donation. If you feel that strongly about the waste (which I completely agree with) you should opt out and donate on your own behalf.

I wouldn't buy a book. Some people just don't read them. I only read on my kindle so if I'm ever bought or lent a book I end up buying the kindle version if I want to truthfully say I've read it.

A dark-coloured scarf is useful and inoffensive.

Stalk his Facebook for anything obvious like football teams, star wars, hobbies.

Get something related to them.

Something for working from home, I have a perpetual calender, which might be nice. Go generic cats or dogs or a workplace cartoon one.

Mug and coaster set. Mouse pad notepad, or week to view.

Chocolates, alcohol and toiletries always feel a bit of a cop out. They're nice enough to receive but for me, part of the fun is receiving something random even if I hate it.

Re. Charity donation. Nice thought...for the giver. Oh you don't give to receive but secret santa...you do. I've just spent 15 quid on Brian from accounts, and in return I've got a letter from ??? ^claiming^ they gave £15 to Oxfam in my name. Screw if it's even a charity I'd like to support. If you think it's wasteful on plastic tat...don't do secret santa, or don't buy plastic tat. Even a £5 budget I've avoided plastic tat - nice mug, a couple of options sachets, some mini chocolate bars, I think one I managed a 99p book in it. Technically I wrapped it in cellophane for decoration, but could have done tissue paper or nothing at all.
