Boss wants people to arrange booster jab for a Friday

DP had just come home and the owner of the company he works for has suggested that staff should only be arranging booster jabs for a Friday after work so that if they suffer side effects they won't need to take time off .
For context,DP had one day off after his third jab .There have been a couple of others off in the last few weeks. These are all people who would never normally take a day off and only get SSP .

AIBU to think this is a shocking way to treat people who are trying to do the right thing ?

I can’t believe how many people think this is ‘sensible’.

If every employer with employees on Monday-Friday contracts did this what do you think would happen?

Plus it will almost certainly result in people getting their boosters later than they would if they’d just picked the first available appointment. Which is idiotic, both for the country as a whole, and for the business.

I didn’t have Friday as an option when I booked online.

If everyone who works tries to book Friday slots they’ll soon run out anyway. So lots of working people won’t be able to.

Agreed. I booked the first available day, which was a Sunday, and no Fridays were available at all. My booster was about a week over 6 months from 2nd jab. If I’d held out to try to find a Friday slot somewhere, who knows how much later it would have been.

I don't think an employer is unreasonable to say "try and get it on a Friday if you can" but the emphasis has to be "if you can". My local centre isn't open on a Friday.

When I booked there was an option for 4.40 on the Friday of the week I hit 6 months on the wednesday, so it seemed like the sensible option to me. My first was Saturday on a bank holiday weekend for the same reason. But had there been less availability I'd have taken what I could get.

There were no Fridays when I booked my booster - Sundays and Wednesdays only, so I picked Sunday as it was closest to the 6 month point (this was before they said to get one after 3 months).
