To LOVE Reign (TV show)

Blush As someone who loves history (and therefore knows that "Reign" utterly butchered any historical resemblance to that time period and that the show has as much to do with Mary the Queen of Scots' reign in France as I with Jesus Grin ) I still cannot help but be utterly addicted!

I watched two seasons in just a few days (at the huge detriment of work and all my life responsibilities Shock ). I am hooked! I must say it has a lot to do with the insanely handsome Francis Wink (who in real life died as a sickly teenager and most likely never consummated his marriage but in the TV show is as ferocious gorgeous King)

The costumes are a farce; the show has zero historical accuracy and yet I am a shameful addict! 🙈

Anyone else?

Absolutely loved it despite all the historical inaccuracies. Managed to sob when Francois died.
It was terribly rushed in the end though with what was a huge chunk of time of her life completed in about two episodes. The last episode in particular just felt wrong in comparison to the rest of the series.

Feel abut weird about saying what my friend did m, but I will say she worked behind the scenes with most if the characters and also had a couple of small parts in it. Craig is proper hot 🔥 in candid pics I've see of him. Quite tempted to friend request him 🤣

I'm fact all the men are pretty good looking.
Even King Henry. I can't remember, was he poisoned or did he have syphilis?

Yes, all men are pretty hot in this series Blush but Bash and his never-ending (very serious) chase of ghosts gets on my nerves 😬 Give me the beautiful King Francis any day. Plus, Bash never changes his attire (except to take it off of course at times Grin ) whereas Francis had dashing clothes (which at times appeared to have come from H&M 🤣 ). I'm fickle, I prefer a King! Wink

On a side note, who knew the deeply religious Catholic Catherine de Medici slept with half of France 😂 I love getting history lessons from Reign!

I actually quite like Season 4, although of course Elizabeth's portrayal is ridiculous (as is pretty much everything else in Reign Grin ) but I enjoy not having endure too many of Mary's "Ladies" and so far there has been less of Bash as well, which is a bonus as all his story lines get on my nerves. And although Lord Darnley is no Francis, I quite like him too Blush He's also very easy on the eyes and quite funny.

Everything to fo with Charles' reign in France is also hilarious 😂 and of course pretty much nothing bears any resemblance to actual facts

Yes this is one of my favourite shows and doesn’t get enough love.
It’s a slightly historical soap opera and it is brilliant. We now have the term “sexy side quest” in our house for all of Bash’s irrelevant story lines and with how good looking every is on it haha.

You are right it is historically completely inaccurate, but there is something so addictive about it. Grin

Megan Fellows plays Catherine De'Medici.
But you may remember her from playing Anne in Anne of Green Gables in the 1985 series. I loved that series and I loved her playing Anne, in my opinion she was the best Anne.

The definitive Anne. I rewatch it every year. RIP Jonathan Crombie.

I loved it too. Might have to rewatch it now. I love historically accurate dramas and am a geek when it comes to historical costumes and well read in this era of history… all this means I should’ve hated Reign with all my heart 😆 but it wasn’t the case at all!

I love it too. I watched it a few years ago and always recommend it! I am all over Chesapeake and Virgin River at the moment. Can’t wait to over indulge in my Netflix Christmas films too - love a princess switch! 😂

@OnlySantaCanJingleMyBells I loved Virgin River. Chesapeake Shores is on my to watch list. Love corny Christmas movies! Have you watched the Dolly Parton one, think it’s called Christmas on the Square: utter fabulous Christmassy trash! 😆
I enjoyed the first two princess switches, but the third one got a bit too silly, even for me!

There was very little historical accuracy, the acting was terrible, some of the plotlines were ludicrous and it barely made sense a lot of the time.

GrinGrinGrin I'm so glad people agree that the ludicrous story lines and insane historical inaccuracy in pretty much everything makes it brilliant 😂 I absolutely hated all of Bash's completely irrelevant, insane side quests, but the "sexy side quests" name made me laugh!

Will start on 'The Last Kingdom' once I finish this (only for research purposes of course and not because I picture my life with Toby Regbo Blush )

For the posters who liked 'Virgin River' check out 'This Is Us' - it's free on Amazon Prime and it's also very addictive and similar in style. Loved 'This Is Us' (also includes very handsome men as main characters Xmas Blush )

The actor who played Bash was also in The Tudors. That's worth a watch as while it's not quite as ludicrous as Reign it does take a lot of liberties with history, features a lot of sex and is generally quite daft Grin

Haha, yes 'Tudors' takes quite a pornographic focus on Henry VIII's reign Grin but compared to the story lines in 'Reign' it's almost an academic work 🤣

And I bloody loved Reign. I binged it on Netflix in less than a week, which was nuts given it was about 80 episodes.

😂 I watched it a few years ago! I was addicted to it!! The ending was very upsetting! I was rooting for "I am Mary, queen of Scot's"
I so badly wanted them to have children, very annoyed that he ended up getting her best friend pregnant!! I don't know if your that far in yet so might be spoiler
