To wonder how often teachers take in Y8 books?

It doesn't seem often to me. Is that Covid related?

Twice per half term for written usually pointless marking.

I only mark on schoology so never collect books. I mark once a week.

Not sure why you need to assure me

My DC have had to take their books home everyday from year 7. The kids all carry huge back packs full of books and PE kits which they also have to carry all day.

@monkeysox it's irrelevant what you do or don't allow, the point is in many schools they have to carry all their books to and from school as they don't hand them in to a teacher or have a locker.

I'm quite annoyed though that lots of teachers on here keep the DC books at school and look after them nicely till the next lesson and mine have to flippin' carry them around all day

I think your DC school is more a minority

The kids at my DD's school also have to keep all their books with them, at home or in their bags. There are lockers this year, but not in a convenient location, so most stuff is carried round all day, like a pack-horse.

Once a half term. Our policy is one piece of writing per half term, 2 tests and one assessment. In my subject they get 4 x lessons per fortnight, and a term is about 6 weeks. So across 12 lessons they get 4 pieces of work marked at least.

My older two take all their books home. Some subjects seem to be marked more often than others.
