Asda, yodel and the case of the missing parcel.

Having alot delivered lately and had to go out Thursday. Had an email that yodel had 'delivered my Asda parcel to my safe place'.

Wondered what that meant as I didn't specify anywhere.

Arrive home and get email from yodel saying they've left it in my porch.

Only I don't have a porch. No photo like hermes do, so I don't know where they left it.

I searched the front garden. There's no access to back (terraced). I checked the bins (the paper bins were on the pavement as Thursday is bin day, so I hope they weren't stupid enough to leave them in there!)

Call Asda who say yodel will be in contact within 48 hours. Nothing.

Just rang again and they said same thing. Only this time they've escalated so will be 24 hours.

Why do delivery companies do this?

If nobody is in surely they should try a neighbour or keep it till the next day?

I strongly suspect they've just leafy it on my doorstep in which case it's 100% been nicked. You can't have anything around here. Not even hanging baskets 🙄

I'm getting quite annoyed now that they're going to say it was delivered and there's nothing they can do! I've not bloody received it!

YANBU but Asda will refund or replace it for you once they’ve done their investigation. I suspect more than 9 times out of 10 they get away with leaving parcels on front steps so the couriers do it because they’re on such a tight schedule.

It’s a pain for you but I doubt you will lose out in the end.

Had this with wilkos where they left my £60 order on my door step on a main road I’m lucky no one took it

I've had it happen a few times with DHL and my frozen dog food, luckily noone took that, probably because its 24kg of frozen raw food 😂

But I don't think an asda parcel would be so lucky.

Argos are continuing to tell me a package I ordered will be delivered on December 1.

Turned out it's stuck with Yodel and they'll get back to me in 48 hours to tell me where it is (?). Too late as it's for a birthday tomorrow. I hear things about Yodel being a bit shit but have never had any problems before now.

Yodel are dreadful. I was waiting for a parcel. Whole family were home. It's very obvious when a vehicle pulls up. Email dinged to say parcel delivered. No vehicle had been, no knock at the door, dog hadn't barked.
Checked outside anyway. Nothing.
Contacted the company straight away stating email but no delivery. They'd "look into it". I rang/emailed them every day. After a week they agreed to refund me but had to let them know if it turned up. Never did.
Later happened to speak to someone who used to work for Yodel. Apparently if they were behind, the warehouse would mark parcels as delivered, even if they weren't, just to get them off the system. Don't know what happened to the parcels though.

Ah that's terrible! So it may never have even arrived them! Shock

Honestly I'd insist on a refund. You're not Yodel's customer. It's not on you to sit around waiting on updates from them. That's asdas problem.

I have a ring doorbell and often certain delivery companies aren't even bothering to knock on my door before they deliver but go straight to a non designated safe place. They don't even go for the obvious one which is an old coal house with a latched (but unlocked) door but rather the locked sheds or the bin.

While I'm not a fan of being photographed with my parcel it certainly helps to find whatever safe space they choose. As mentioned above, you won't be left out of pocket or parcel eventually but it's all the hassle surrounding it that's a problem and the added unexpected wait time.

I've even had some Amazon prime deliveries by DPD recently who tend to be worse than the Amazon drivers who aren't particularly great either (my royal mail postie's are great around here and set the standard).

My deliveries are often left elsewhere as are my neighbours. We are in a cul de sac and ours are often left at the same house number in the next cul de sac.I came back from hol recently and found a parcel in my back garden for someone 2 cul de sacs away (but same house no). My wine delivery was missing (!!!aargh!) but phoned customer service at wine sellers and they were able to log onto delivery driver's actual journey and noted that he had driven down next cul de sac but not been to mine at all, which is how I found out where to look in future. My sister's deliveries are often left at a house in the road her own road turns off from(totally different road name). You might find your delivery by pursuing similar possibilities.
