confused - should I be self isolating?

DH tested positive for covid last Friday. My and DD tested negative, and are doing daily LFT's.

According to the information I was given, I do not have to self isolate, as long as I have no symptoms and my tests remain neg.

But today I went for my booster jab, and was turned away, as I may have "dormant covid".
I am a peripatetic music teacher. Should I be going round different schools?? Or should I stay at home??

No you're not required to isolate when you are double jabbed - assuming you're in England.

The rules for getting the 3rd vaccine may be slightly different.

When I volunteered at covid vaccine centres I think the rule was you couldn’t be vaccinated if you’d tested positive in the last 28 days, even if you were fine and out of your isolation period. So maybe there’s something where if possible they want to avoid giving it to people recently exposed?
The rules of self isolating say you don’t have to though, but I guess that’s different to being vaccinated.

This is not a thing. Your vaccinator was wrong. It’s only if you yourself have symptoms or have tested positive should vaccination not take place. She needs to look at the green book guidance.

It isn’t.
The vaccinator made a mistake here.

This was one of the questions on the Chris and Linda segment of Saturday’s bbc breakfast.

According to the government: yes you can go round different schools with COVID in your household.

However it seems kind of a bad idea common-sense wise (not your fault; government's fault). Imagine spreading it to all those different classes and different schools right before Christmas.

If I were you I think I'd speak to the schools and explain the situation and suggest you stay home (probably for 10 days after your DH started symptoms). I know my kids' school would appreciate this.

Re vaccine, not sure of rules, but seems safer not to have it when you're fairly likely to be harbouring COVID.

You don't need to self-isolate if you had your second jab more than 2 weeks ago, but you do need to isolate, regardless if vaccination status, if he has the Omicron variant.

kathyseldon · 06/12/2021 11:27

How do we know if he has the Omicron variant?
Yes, DD and me are both fully vaccinated.

You’d be told by test and trace.

You could try a local walk in?

I would feed back to the clinic that they’re not following the green book guidance on this.
