So many different courses online. From what I see you need to start by doing a foundation? Is this the case? Any psychotherapists out there who can explain the specific route? Also, any London-based recommendations? Of course I know this can depend on whether yours looking to go into cbt, jungian etc but everything online just seems so confusing!

Thanks!

Psychotherapy is a big field. I've never met a psychotherapist who wasn't a mental health professional (psychiatrist, psychologist, nurse or OT) prior to training, though I imagine there are private training providers who might offer this. I think it would be tough without the years of patient contact as a foundation though.

Though there are nuances of different branches of psychotherapy a common factor is that you have to fund your own experience of therapy.

I'd suggest emailing a training provider to see what they suggest and what the entry requirements would be for the foundation course (I.e. if you need prior experience). It might also be helpful to consider how you see yourself working - private I guess?
