Is tipping online retailers now a thing?

Just placing an order on Saint & Sofia and at checkout I’m offered the option to tip their staff 5%, 10% or 20%?

Have they lost their minds? What on earth is the tip rewarding? People doing their jobs properly? You don’t even know until the delivery is complete.

AIBU to think that extending tipping to online retailers is a terrible idea and they should be paying their staff properly so that tips aren’t needed.

@Belledan1

I did a rare order on uber and it asked tip the driver. Had already paid 2.99 delivery.
I always tip Uber/Deliveroo/Just Eat drivers (food or Uber cab ride). They get paid fuck all (especially Deliveroo & Just Eat) and I appreciate the convenience, so I think I should pay fairly for it.

If the weather's horrendous, it's a long trip from where they pick the food up to me, it's a really busy night, it's an awkward one (like occasionally getting Morrisons groceries delivered via Deliveroo, heavy and tons of bags) or they're especially lovely, I tip £2-3. Otherwise £1 as absolutely standard.

I feel conflicted with Uber/Deliveroo etc. These companies should all pay their drivers better.

Yes I just had this experience on a different site.
Made me cancel the purchase to make sure it wasn’t a scammer site!!
