To ask for some party bag ideas please!

7 year old's party coming up soon and I haven't sorted any party bags! I am totally stuck for ideas. I really don't want to load them up with plastic tat. Don't want to do books - too hard to cover all ability levels and interests.

So far I've just got a slice of cake and some sweets planned. Ideally nothing too expensive, there's quite a lot of guests.

A slice of cake and some sweets sounds lovely. Would that not be enough?
My DD’s are older now but I used to absolutely hate the plastic tat they were given in n party bags.
How many are coming? If you want to add to it I’d suggest a fidget spinner, yes it’s plastic but it has some uses, my nephew (also 7) and is obsessed with his.

Please not a load of plastic crap that'll break in 5 minutes and end up in landfill for 500+ years - I completely agree with you! Little notebooks/mini packs of pencils/rubbers plus a few sweets, maybe?

Small Selection Box?

Belledan1 · 30/11/2021 22:56

Selection box is a great idea. I have done a Terry's chocolate orange before or box of malteres instead of rubbish.

Notdoingthis · 30/11/2021 23:17

Before or after Christmas? Either way I'd just give them a giant tube of smarties.

piefacedClique · 30/11/2021 23:23

is there a party theme?

ThinWomansBrain · 30/11/2021 23:32

tesco's have got mini selection boxes half price @ £1 at the moment if you have a club card
I must stop buying them for myself

Sunflower seeds or bee bombs.

Theballoonsinthesky · 30/11/2021 23:37

The works are great for small cheap things for party bags. For me son's bday when he turned 7 this year I did a light up bouncy ball each, a fidget toy, a little tub of putty/slime, sweets, cake and glow sticks. It was a small party with only 6 children but all of those items weren't more than a pound per item.

Plastic Plant pots for “bags”
Small amount of compost in a resealable sandwich bag (zip lock ones best)
Seeds
As the plant pot is new the cake (wrapped) and sweets can go in there too
Can also add a pack of stickers for kids to stick on outside of pot to decorate
Kids love it

Ylvamoon · 01/12/2021 01:14

Of you are concerned about the environment I suggest cardboard sandwich box and some sweets and one of those cardboard glider planes ... I did something similar many years ago and the kids loved it!

I did a notebook, a small pack of pens, a horrible history book, bag of Haribos & a slice of cake for ds 6th birthday party

Jacob’s Ladders are wooden. Pack of playing cards, jacks, yo-yo (wooden), a pack of rainbow colouring pencils, grow your own Venus flytrap.

TableSetting · 01/12/2021 05:22

B&M sell packets of microwave popcorn 4 for £1

Bloballbovish · 01/12/2021 12:12

Thanks for the ideas! I'll probably do the seed idea as my DD likes gardening. Though it's good to know that sweets and cake would be considered enough, in case I don't get around to doing more.

The reason for no plastic tat isn't so much an eco thing, as much as knowing how annoyed I get by fiddly bits of crap that end up getting stood on or broken!
