I don't usually have the chance to watch as I'm at work etc, but I'm watching today and can't believe they've given such a lot of airtime to an elderly woman and her much younger Egyptian husband and then there's Alison who seems lovely but has no business being on a sled with those 4 poor huskies struggling.

Really seems they scrape the barrel. Isn't it time to take it off air?

i stopped watching a while ago-used to like scholfield but his woe is me act since he came out is nauseating let alone writing a sodding book about it

Snoozer11 · 30/11/2021 13:52

It's become very 'ITV2' in recent years.

I also despise Schofield.

madisonbridges · 30/11/2021 13:52

I loath it. Both the presenters are unappealing. Schofield's right presenting level was in the broom cupboard being outperformed by a puppet gopher. He should have stayed there. T'other one said recently she was scared of saying what she thought in case she got criticised. I guess that's why she looks so vacuous and never expresses any thoughts, or indeed anything interesting.
And yet people watch it. Goes to show that even though we have such low expectations from our broadcasters, the broadcasters can still go even lower...and get away with it.

PieMistee · 30/11/2021 13:55

Who watches I always wonder. On the rare days I am not working or with kids there are about 100 other more exciting things to do it watch than this tired programme.

Lampzade · 30/11/2021 14:06

Dreadful show . The problem is definitely the presenters.
I don’t watch it as I can’t bear Philip Scholfield.
He gives me the rage.
Holly is bland and uninspiring.
I also cannot stand Gino the chef and his exaggerated Italian accent
Fridays are not much better. People have been criticising Alison , but for me the problem is Dermot O Dreary. He is just crap at presenting

dottiedodah · 30/11/2021 14:08

Dont like it now at all ,Take my dog out ,catch up on shopping /HW ,Then go on Mumsnet! Much better IMHO .Really liked R an J in their day .Since then no one has come near .E and R quite good . HW and PS are OK ,not dislikeable ,but very bland somehow

madisonbridges · 30/11/2021 14:09

I like Alison and Dermot but they're both useless, all over the place and have zippo chemistry. That said I only saw it once so maybe it was a bad day.

foodiscomplicated · 30/11/2021 14:13

I haven't watched daytime telly since I was (endlessly) breastfeeding DS 25 years ago.
So glad I haven't wasted my time!

tara66 · 30/11/2021 14:14

It's about 3 years since I watched it - it seemed they used to just shout at each other and I couldn't follow when Piers used to be on.

IDontThinkSoNo · 30/11/2021 14:16

@MissPC

Haven’t watched it for years but got to admit that I’m intrigued about the older woman with the younger Egyptian husband, might look for it on catch up!
I barely ever watch it but I’ve seen this couple on the programme at least 3 times, I think they’re regulars on the show with their updates of not being able to be together. All a bit weird with the massive age gap and all they do is talk about their sex and the chafing (ugh)
WhatIsThePriority · 30/11/2021 14:32

DS1 is 33. I remember watching it when I was home with him on maternity leave.
Yes, it's definitely had its day (but then so have a lot of TV programmes these days).

CityMumma78 · 30/11/2021 14:32

This Morning and Loose Women are for the brain dead!

MammaLovesLeopard · 30/11/2021 14:33

@ItsRainingTacos

It's basically Women's Own and Chat magazine on screen. So you don't even have to waste brain cells reading that drivel.
Yup.
saltontoast · 30/11/2021 14:50

Stopped watching 2 years ago when I was on maternity leave and it was so grim, can't stand the fairness of Phil and holly. I do like Eamon and Ruth, are they still on?

MissPC · 30/11/2021 17:20

Just watched 5 minutes as it was the first item Shock. Not what I was expecting at all! I don’t know what I was expecting but not an 82 year old telling Holly that they got through a tube of lube and she couldn’t walk for a week after the first time they had sex.

Randomness12 · 30/11/2021 17:40

Well to go against the grain here, I like it. Im an educated adult with a senior professional role but it’s easy watching - I used to have it on in the background when wfh and I’m on mat leave currently so watch it most days. It’s inoffensive, gentle TV. A nice way to start the day. I don’t see the issue. The ratings are still really high so they must be doing something right…

Ah yes, it will be one of those stories where Phil and Holly can just giggle along, hiding their faces behind 'scripts' pretending to be scandalised about all the wild sex they are having ( the woman and Egyptian lover, not pip & Holls obviously 😁
Same as when they bring on Gino da Bonko and Miriam Margolyes..

StoneofDestiny · 30/11/2021 18:11

Hadn't seen in in over a year, but put it on today while I was tidying up - lasted 10 minutes as it was like a replay of what I saw a year ago. Zzzzz

Alltheblue · 30/11/2021 18:12

I like it. I don't watch it but it's nice to know it's there.

southeastdweller · 30/11/2021 18:13

It’s a shadow of its former self, dumbed down crap. Holly brings nothing to the show and, when I used to watch it, was out of her depth with relatively challenging guests. Can’t bear the other one since seeing that fake coy expression on the cover of his book a few months ago.

wolfstarling · 30/11/2021 18:15

Yep. Should have finished after Richard and Judy. Loose Women is terrible too. It does stop one watching the television in the day though so...

Alltheblue · 30/11/2021 18:16

You see I do think Holly is very good on other programmes. She is genuinely benign when she interviews and people respond to that. She'd make a great GP.

Pumperthepumper · 30/11/2021 18:19

There must be a market, especially these days when people are at home more, for decent daytime tv? Like Louis Theroux interviewing people, or true crime documentaries or something. Daytime tv is just endlessly shite.

madisonbridges · 30/11/2021 18:20

Ah, Richard and Judy! Judy being constantly embarrassed by Richard's attempt at edgy behaviour. 😅 Them woz the dayz.

Roselilly36 · 30/11/2021 18:27

Not watched daytime tv in years, surprised that This morning is still on.
