How do I book booster?

Trying repeatedly on NHS website given today’s announcement but still says I am ineligible? More than 3 months since last Jab. Can anyone help?

Why do we need a booster so soon after jab?

dementedpixie · 29/11/2021 21:04

I assume it helps boost the immune response

DroopyClematis · 29/11/2021 21:07

My GP surgery texted me last Friday. I'm a week shy of six months since my last jab.

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/11/2021 21:10

The new 3 month policy has been announced but the online booking system hasn’t been updated yet (typical). It’s still operating on the 6 month model.

Because immunity is highest shortly after the vaccination.

Can’t understand any healthy under 50 year old wanting a ‘booster’ so soon.

Old, medically vulnerable perhaps. No one else’s needs it

WeAreTheHeroes · 29/11/2021 21:36

I'm over 40 and was able to book my booster for 6 months after second vaccination. Had it yesterday.

Hmm have you offered your services to the JCVI? Sounds like you could teach them experts a thing or two!!

I will gladly have every single vaccine offered to me. I have complete faith in the science, without hesitation.

And I definitely don’t want to get covid - middle aged women are more likely to suffer long covid.

That’s very nice dear. Maybe leave the thinking bits to those clever scientists who can understand (and can readily explain in simple terms) those issues.

If you're so close to the 5 month mark you should be able to book any day now. I had my second dose on 1st July and booked my booster yesterday. The earliest appointment I was offered was the 30th December.

There were thousands on the website when I tried to book but the page refreshes every 15 seconds showing you moving up the queue quite quickly, it took about 3 minutes for me to go from position 10,600 to booking.

CounsellorTroi · 30/11/2021 09:41

I had my 2nd jab in June and got a letter last week with an appointment for the booster - this Sunday.

StormyTeacups · 30/11/2021 19:43

I live on an Island, have been eligible for booster for a few weeks but no appointments that aren't a ferry ride and best part of a day off away.

SoItWas · 30/11/2021 19:48

I'm over 18 but under 30, it's been 3 months since my 2nd jab. According to the new advice, I should be getting my booster. Apparently my region has the lowest booster uptake, yet here I am, willing to have mine, but they're still only offering them to the over 40's. Frustrating, I hope my they offer it to my age group soon.

SoItWas · 30/11/2021 19:49

*I hope my they

Precisely what thousands of “healthy over 50s thought until they found themselves very poorly in hospital.

I’m “healthy”. Delighted to have had my booster.

You might see if there are any walk-in centres near you offering it? Although it's possible they're not operating at the moment, with the change to 3 months.
