What were you doing with your life in 2007 and does it seem long ago to you?

That was the year I first moved to London. Feels like a lifetime ago, but also when I hear "2007" it seems like that shouldn't be as long ago as it is Confused

What was your life like then? Do you miss it? I miss being so young and all the potential opportunities!

It feels like a million years ago.

SequinnedShawl · 29/11/2021 19:00

I was getting divorced, being made redundant, buying a new house and falling in love again.
Still with him Wink

Rosewaterblossom · 29/11/2021 19:01

It feels like yesterday. My dd was a baby, ds wasn't here yet.

I also think the same of 2002. It all feels like a few years ago, not nearly 20!

Chasingsquirrels · 29/11/2021 19:02

Feels like half a lifetime! But 14 years is less than 1/3rd of mine.
I was on maternity leave for the first few months with my 2nd, then went back to work after Easter juggling that and 2 small children.
I've since divorced, remarried, been widowed and now seeing someone else.
Said maternity leave child is doing his GCSEs next summer, no. 1 is at uni.
I'm still with the same employer, although we have merged since.

ToykotoLosAngeles · 29/11/2021 19:02

Graduating and getting engaged! So yes, it feels like forever ago. I'm 37 with a toddler now, have worked post-uni for 14 years and been married 11.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/11/2021 19:03

At university. Dating my now husband who was in the Army by then.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/11/2021 19:04

Getting a divorce.

JuneOsborne · 29/11/2021 19:05

I started my career job having finished my retraining at uni, and had a 2yo ds. Lived in a lovely, small, rented house. Didn't drive, although I had a licence. But had to drive for work, so that was a major change actually. My lovely mum was still alive.

MargaretThursday · 29/11/2021 19:05

2019 seems a lifetime away let alone 2007.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/11/2021 19:05

It was three years after I moved to London. I was living with my OH in a nice little flat in Chalk Farm. We spent Christmas travelling round Australia and got engaged on Fraser Island.

I worked in HR for a social care charity in Balham, and had a large group of friends I'd made through a amateur theatre group, many of whom I'm still friends with now.

My DM lived in a pretty village on Dartmoor, so I had a country retreat I could do if London got to much. We had plenty of money and very little responsibility.

It was an idyllic time, really, though I don't think I fully appreciated it at the time. As for how long it seems, if you say "2007" to me, it doesn't feel very long ago. It's only when I think about what I've done since then and how much has changed that I realise it was ages ago, and how young I was.

Ugh, I've depressed myself now.

WhyAmIDoingIt · 29/11/2021 19:06

On maternity leave for half of it with my first dc.
and moved in to our first house together with exh. A tiny stone cottage that we rented for a year.

TracyLords · 29/11/2021 19:07

We got married in 2007 and were blissfully happy young good looking newly weds. We’re now blissfully happy but old looking middle aged grumps

Lux523 · 29/11/2021 19:07

I was pregnant with my 1st daughter who was born December 2007. What a truly wonderful year for me.

Bortles · 29/11/2021 19:07

Followed a boy abroad, had an intense year of friendships, parties agoraphobia briefly, breakups and finally getting in touch with my dad whom I'd never met. Also the first time I got slightly fatter than normal as I guess at 27 my metabolism was changing a bit.
It doesn't seem that long ago. The thing I miss most is riding my bike through snow covered streets and the unhealthy food.

Gncq · 29/11/2021 19:07

I have to think quite hard to remember what 2007 involved.

It was after a major depressive period of time, but before leaving the UK to stay in Thailand and having the time of my life.
My mum died 2008 so that's the only way I can really remember the dates.

I was so young!.

A lifetime ago really.

PyjamaFan · 29/11/2021 19:07

I was single and living in Vietnam. I was teaching at an international school, partying a lot and travelling all over Asia during school holidays. Lots of fun and no responsibilities!

I'm in the UK now and have been living with my lovely DH for 10 years.

My life is very different now but I'm actually much happier.

MissAmbrosia · 29/11/2021 19:08

2007 was new house, new job. Dd was 3. It seems ages ago. Different house, different job and dd nearly 18 now.

Glassofshloer · 29/11/2021 19:08

I was at school, coating myself in Charlie Black & dream matte mousse in order to impress my little rat faced boyfriend 😂

Sparklesocks · 29/11/2021 19:09

I was a student. Still with my first boyfriend who I thought I’d marry (lol), still learning who I was. Spending all my time with my friends, going out dancing, eating awful cheap meals and drinking strong and cheap alcohol. It feels simultaneously a few years ago and another lifetime ago.

Glassofshloer · 29/11/2021 19:10

To answer the second question, it feels what it is, 15 odd years ago. Do I miss it? Not really, I was very insecure looking back.

5keletor · 29/11/2021 19:11

I was in my final year of secondary school... It does seem a very long time ago, and yes I feel even older now! 😂

Inmypjsagain · 29/11/2021 19:14

I was at university and loving it! This time in 2007 I would have just met my now husband. It really feels so long ago, in my head I’m still about 20 and I can’t believe I left university over a decade ago! How did that happen 🤯🤯🤯

WakeUpLockie · 29/11/2021 19:14

I was in 6th form and just wasting time until I could get started with life! Flunked my A Levels the next year and moved to London. Feels like a lifetime ago!

dizzydizzydizzy · 29/11/2021 19:15

I was spending my days walking walking and walking. School and preschool drop off, preschool pickup at lunch, school pickup at 3. We live 1.5 miles from school and preschool.

Hoptoit1 · 29/11/2021 19:16

2007
I had one child a 3 year old, was working part-time as a ward nurse and having fertility treatment. Living in a tiny terrace house. Partner worked a lot.
2021
I now have 3 teenagers, am single and became disabled 8 years ago so am unable to work. Live in a larger house though.
Feels like two different worlds.
