Karndean - finish

Can anyone who has had karndean/any glue down lvt let me know if this finish is acceptable. I've gone for this product as I didn't want beading. However there are some small gaps between the floor and the skirting. Not sure if I am being too much of a perfectionist. Fitters are coming back tomorrow to do another room so opinions on whether I should ask then to rectify gaps. Pics attached.

I don't think you understand what Karndean stickdown LVT is. It comes in 'planks' so its quite usual to end up with planks cut in this way at the edges.

The fitter though should have made a better job of cutting those pieces.[/quote]
Oh but I do. And they should have measured the room and laid the planks differently, meaning they'd cut more ' planks' but they would have been wider at the edge of the room.

I've just overseen the laying of karndean in an 'executive home' refurb. We had a long conversation about where the strips should be measured/started from to get the best finish. My client wouldn't have accepted that, I'd have had to pay for the refit!

@HoardingSamphireSaurus

That's fine if you have a rectangular room with with straight walls. Our room (actually two room joined through a double door) has multiple different widths with a curve at one end so impossible to do as you say.

That's the whole point if vinyl though. It can be cut to meet any shape. You just have to plan it thoroughly and know how to use shaping tools for measuring the odd bits. Though a piece of wood, ruler and pencil will do it just as well.

And get a well trained, experienced fitter.

You don’t need straight walls....I have it in my bathroom...round my toilet ....neat as anything....no gaps

Very poor job @Swimmum78

Tbh though I'd be more pissed off with your husband who thinks it's acceptable to not question this and fork out cash for a shoddy job!!! What is wrong with him?

Swimmum78 · 30/11/2021 09:49

Dh now agrees btw. He only thought there was 1 gap, which we would just ask to rectify. I've gone round this morning in the light and got more/clearer pics. I'm not sure whether to ask for different fitters as these obviously think this is acceptable.
