to be annoyed at my DB for moaning about splitting the bill when I have 1 more child

and his household income must be nearly 80K whereas mine is a quarter
he made quite a fuss in front of the waitress who clearly thought he was making a fuss

when I got home I worked it out the child's meal was £3 plus drink so I in effect made him pay £2.50

its been eating me up since lunchtime

he just said, I can make it up over xmas

so annoyed - we paid for my mum too - again probably cost him a £5 BUT she has his DD every Monday and does lots of other running around for both of us

He sounds like an arse.

mistletoemiggins · 16/12/2007 19:15

i was gobsmacked as I wasnt trying to get money out of him - just seemed sensible to split the bill as paying for OUR mum and 1 extra child

he made me feel really tight but I was just doing what we always do - trouble is I now have step daughter (for want of better word) and so obviously I included her & just paid

feel like going round & giving him the £2.50

Yup. Arse.

tallulah · 16/12/2007 19:19

That's nothing. My SIL nearly went into meltdown because the waitress had put our puddings on their bill by mistake. She wouldn't wait for her to come over but stormed over to the counter to demand they change it.

And my mum who had invited herself on our holiday and insisted on "paying her own way" (translation only paying for herself and not subsidising us), when totting up the bill for one meal said that as DS3 had eaten half of her banana split she should only pay for half of it.... (she hadn't been able to finish it...)

YANBU - he sounds like a moron. Would you normally buy him a Christmas present? Just put £2.50 in a card for him instead.

mistletoemiggins · 16/12/2007 19:22

ironically we always buy presents but this yr my SIL & I agreed not to buy for the adults as I am going through expensive divorce & remortgage & so need some breathing space.

he really did go on & on about it & probably moaned all the way home about me in the car

MarsyChristmas · 16/12/2007 19:23

Can't even type the word that came to mind so will stick with arse!!!!!!!!!

Bouncingturtle · 16/12/2007 20:05

Why is it that the more income people have the trighter they hold onto it.
I nominate your db as Scrooge! Tight bastard.

Bouncingturtle · 16/12/2007 20:06

In fact, bearing in mind money is very tight for you atm, he should have paid for the entire thing!

mylittleponey · 16/12/2007 20:09

does he always behave like this?

crokky · 16/12/2007 20:17

Disgraceful behaviour by your DB!

nametaken · 16/12/2007 20:20

Send him a cheque for £2.55 and say you've included a bit of interest for him

hatwoman · 16/12/2007 20:23

he didn;t make you look tight! he made himself look like a twat. a tight one.

mistletoemiggins · 16/12/2007 20:50

he is always saying that my exH was the tight one but I know he wouldnt have moaned at todays bill

my dad says hes had obviously had a bad day

and apparently when leaving the restaurant he told my mum hed paid for 6 people whereas I paid for 4

am going to ignore it.....glad u all think I wasnt been unreasonable as I did think perhaps I was.....
