Positive test and going out

Is it ok to go out in the car when you've had a positive PCR test? Teenage Dc was bored so they went out for a drive this morning with a relative. In the icy, snowy conditions as they are up in the hills. Dc does not live with me and I had no control over this but I'm sure stay at home means just that. AIBU to think the relative is an utter twat?

They’re both idiots, who on earth purposely gets into a car with someone who’s just tested positive, ridiculous, especially since they’re just introducing some measures!

HereTodayHereTomorrow · 28/11/2021 10:21

Isn’t this highly illegal? When I had Covid I had daily phone calls and reminders of a £10k fine if I left the house!

Ilikewinter · 28/11/2021 10:28

Yes both are utter twats. Hope they dont get stuck or break down and need help from anyone.

Limboland80 · 28/11/2021 10:29

So if they have an accident on the snowy hills they will be taking their covid infection into the hospital! Its just ridiculous 🙄

ShinyMe · 28/11/2021 10:30

The reason they say not to go out is that you must not come into contact with others. Yes, in a car trip you wouldn't EXPECT to come into contact (apart from the person they shared a car with!) but what if there was an accident or they broke down? They can't guarantee they won't come into contact, the only way to ensure this is to stay at home like rules say. So the teenager has put the relative at risk and potentially also the emergency services and helpers just because they were bored? That's bloody selfish and stupid, that's what that is.

Chloemol · 28/11/2021 10:32

They are both idiots and should not have gone out

5keletor · 28/11/2021 10:32

YANBU, it's selfish and irresponsible, I don't know anyone who wasn't bored when self-isolating, me included.

StCharlotte · 28/11/2021 10:32

No worse than my neighbour's son testing positive on the 29th December and going out to a New Year's Eve party.

Fairylights25 · 28/11/2021 11:19

I hope this is joke.

If you have an accident what happens then?

Some people are just so stupid.

armadillosbelike · 28/11/2021 11:26

Sadly, no, it's not a joke. If I had any influence it wouldn't have happened.

Selfish and stupid. So done with idiots not able to comprehend what are very simple rules.
