That they shouldn't pay

My friend uses a site whereas you pay for job leads latest job priced at £5.25 I know its a small amount. My friend has tried to contact the customer to quote on the work and the customer hasn't responded.
This site has refused to refund as they say they have spoken to the customer and the customer says they have been busy and will respond to my friend soon. Is my friend unreasonable to refuse to pay for the lead.

Depends entirely on the terms on which the lead was offered, I expect.

MadeOfStarStuff · 27/11/2021 21:02

Depends on the terms of the site selling leads, which your friend presumably agreed to when she signed up. Such a pointless thread without the crucial information, nothing any of us say would affect the terms she agreed ti

They usually refund if thr customer isn't contactable whereas in this case they say they have been in touch but they appear to be ignoring all of my friends messages

Depends what in the T&C.

The site passed a genuine lead on. Its not their fault the client has backed out. They cannot make the client follow through.

I pay google a small fortune for 'leads' - some dont follow through and you have to factor this in to the advertisement budget.

I am currently at £16 -£21 a 'lead' , I would be over the moon if it was a fiver.

Well surely it take much to answer my friend and say sorry I've got somebody or I don't want it doing.Hmm

No it doesn't, but you can't force them to respond. A lead is just that. It's not guaranteed work or guaranteed quote or conversation.

ThinWomansBrain · 27/11/2021 21:22

could be that it's a completely different area (geography or type of work) - or if PP is paying £16-£20, maybe it's a scam?
has your friend had work through these 'leads' before, or know anyone that has?

Tevion28 · 27/11/2021 21:34

They have had work through but an awful lot don't pick up the phone. You can waste alot of good money

For me, the question would be why they're using such a site at all; too often they're full of folk who probably wouldn't get work any other way (though I'm not suggesting she's necessarily one of them)

You've not said if she's new to whatever the work is, but it's often best to work up a reputation yourself rather than depend on this kind of thing
