To kick DD and her friends off the WiFi?

DD has 4 friends over for a sleepover. We had things planned...film, make-overs etc.

2 of the friends have however brought ipads with them. We gave them the WiFi passwords so they could have a play but an hour later they are still on them, playing one together (my DD is on hers too) while the 2 kids who don't have them just watch.

We've turned the WiFi off. Who sends their child to a birthday party with an iPad to play while they're there? Is this a normal thing?
@claymodels Because they don't all have an ipad? At least with a movie they can all watch at the same time, rather than two girls just sat watching the other three do whatever they're doing. It's not about screens, it's about excluding people at a party.
If OP was so concerned about that she wouldn't have had any of them using iPads at all

What's the logic by replacing a screen with a screen?

For a start it includes the kids that don’t have iPads. But if you like, replace with one of the other activities the OP mentioned.

You can imagine the non-iPadders telling their parents how the sleep over went.

Dd had an iPad for school so sleepovers would always include iPads. However, all iPads were removed early so they had plenty of time for group stuff. Though, tbf, because they were used to group iPad activities for school, that carried on at home, too.

Up until this year, all phones were handed to me during the evening. But they are all late teens this year.

@claymodels I was just explaining the logic with replacing a screen with a screen from your comment. I wasn't commenting on the OP. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you want to play that game, I wasn't asking you. I was just asking the person who made the iPad to movie comment 🤷🏻‍♀️

@claymodels What? I'm only explaining!

There is clearly a difference between a movie chosen and enjoyed by a group together and 4 kids staring at separate ipads playing shit games or watching crap on ebay

YANBU at all. Very unfair to ignore the kids who did not have ipads with them. But they are children and adult guidance to do other activities was not out of place.

I'd probably be having a chat to my child at some point (after everyone has gone) about being kind and making sure all their guests were included in the activities.
