To hope we'll be in our new house by Christmas

Seller wants to complete ASAP, as do we. We are ready to go. Sellers new property is vacant.

We have sent over our closing help to buy ISA statement to our solicitor this morning via email. We have signed all documents required, including ones with witnesses.

AIBU to think there's a chance we will be in before Christmas? 🤞🏼

We'll be making a call on Monday for sure.

Tried yesterday, to which we were told our solicitor would call us back, obviously didn't happen and we were both busy with work all afternoon so never got a chance to chase it up 🙄

Wow, fantastic news. Gives me a little hope that it can be done this month. Wishing you a smooth purchase.

We started the moving process, last year, our buyers said oh we can move by Christmas, we didn’t move until the middle of Feb. Good luck I hope it works out, but don’t pin your hopes on it.

Previous house we had was 5 weeks. This one was 9 weeks. Why does it take so long now ?

Excellent news!

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/12/2021 07:39

It takes ages. We are on week 19 no chain. Completion date was tentatively set for the 17th dec, but we just signed the forms as instructed by solicitor to release our deposit from LISA. The small print on that says you need to slow 30 days AngrySad

Gah the buying and selling of houses in the U.K. is bonkers.... wouldn’t it speed everything up if the seller gets all the searches etc done when selling the house?! Saves repeated searches on the same house by numerous potential buyers.

They tried that with the HIP but it didn't work. Not sure why tho
