Drs Appointment

I spent an hour and a half trying to get Drs appointment as for the last 12 days I’ve suffered a constant headache, eye pain, severe light sensitivity and problems with my vision due to Covid. I’ve been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen but nothing has really touched the sides but was told rather rudely by the receptionist to go to a pharmacist and get some migraine tablets as the Dr cannot do anything about Covid symptoms and that some patients have had this for months. Am I wrong to want to be seen by a gp or nurse - feeling very down about it all due to the constant pain.

Sounds like she should have been a lot more sensitive about it

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/11/2021 19:33

That sounds really awful. Hope you’re better soon Flowers

Try and see an Optician. More likely to be able to get to the bottom of it than a GP.

Amberflames · 25/11/2021 20:04

OP covid could be a red herring so an optician might not be a bad shout, even if just for a check up.

Yep I agree with this, they can also do referrals I think if needed?

I agree. See your local optician. They will check your eyes very carefully and rule out anything serious. My optician is excellent. They diagnosed my neurological disease when I couldn't get an appointment with my GP. Then when I had another problem they sent me to the eye A&E with a letter and they got me on a fast pathway for investigations.

They also saw DH when he had a run in with a rosebush in the garden, Saw him within an hour and gave him antibiotic drops. £10.

If you have covid symptoms then you shouldn't be going to see your GP. They are correct to refuse to see you.
If GP's saw everyone that had symptoms then the spread would be massively increased.

NGL, I would go to A & E if I were you. Sounds awful. Get well soon! Flowers
TidyOmlette · 25/11/2021 20:50

There’s never any point seeing a GP for anything to do with your eyes, opticians are always the best point of contact plus most likely if you do get a GP appointment they would firstly recommend seeing an optician.

LittleDandelionClock · 25/11/2021 20:52

SHIT! I skip read and didn't see you had covid!

Sorry, I do get the GP reluctance then. Still hope you get well soon! Flowers

sittingdownb · 25/11/2021 21:11

I read op as having previously had covid (now out of isolation) but still suffering with eye problems. Is this correct op? If so I don't think YABU for wanting to see a gp.
