AIBU to think this will be the end of universal healthcare in U.K.

It’s being largely reported about the cap of social care but the rest of the legislation is being ignored by MSM

This is incredibly worrying when you look at the finer details

Which finer details do you mean? The bill is nearly 250 pages long and it might be helpful to know which bits you are in about

Yanbu. Sadly most people won't know what they had until its gone. A principle these current Tories have taken full advantage of in various massively damaging ways over the last few years.

It’s Boris’s plan. I suspect he wants to sell contracts to his mates. It will all be done covertly cos no-one would ever vote transparently to end the NHS. People won’t realise until it’s too late.

YANBU. I think a lot of people get an idolised view of the NHS and I don’t think it helps, really. The cult-like worship of it and the clapping last year achieved nothing. The NHS isn’t some kind of God, it’s a public service. It would be weird if people started doing claps for Universal Credit would it?

The government love people going on about “NHS” heroes because it implies that the NHS is something really spectacular and magical instead of a bare necessity. It makes it easier to take away.

I agree with the first paragraph (I wasn't entirely sure where you were going with the next one).

I don't get excited by my GP service which currently consists of a recorded message saying that nobody will take my call and want to treasure it. Because it is inadequate.

Hence the Peppa pig bs

twopennerth · 26/11/2021 00:10

Also, I work as a School Counsellor and am picking up all of the kids that CAMHS reject by gaslighting them that they are 'fine' so I'm really not here for any NHS worship. Other services pick up the pieces sometimes. Picking up the pieces is my day to day job.

MiddayMass · 26/11/2021 00:30

@twopennerth

What I meant is that sometimes people are afraid to even criticise the NHS because of how ‘lucky’ they feel we are to have it in the first place. The government would rather people be clapping for it and worshipping it than criticising it.

Unfortunately with some people having issues with the NHS makes you some kind of rabid nurse hater in their eyes.

twopennerth · 26/11/2021 00:37

Middaymass thank you for the clarification. I agree.
