To ask where you had your private hysterectomy?

Just that really. NHS can't do any more for me, and I'm too young to be referred for a hysterectomy - even though I'd rather be barren than suicidal when I ovulate. So I'm considering going private.

Which private hospital/clinic did you attend when you had your hysterectomy done? And would you recommend them?

To add, I'm already on 150mg of sertraline, had CBT twice, am on a six-month waiting list for intensive psychological counselling, and I've had my bloods come back normal - ruling out any thyroid issues.

It sounds horrendous. Have you seen a consultant gynaecologist? I think it’s worth making an appointment to see one privately and discussing your options with an open mind. There may be other ways to address your symptoms. I hope you get the help you need.

Sorry to clog your thread up but withalva.com/menopause/chemical-menopause this sounds like it might be a first step. Chemically induced menopause, that can be reversed, to see if the symptoms stop.

Murrayfield in Edinburgh but did have to go through referral process with consultant gynecologist to get the surgery planned. Te surgeon was fantastic and really understood the impact of my chronic pain which led to the op, so hopefully would be sympathetic to your very real psychological symptoms. Have to say I did try the pill which emulated chemically induced menopause prior to the surgery too, didn't mind doing this and delaying by a few months as when decision was made the surgery took place either weeks. It didn't help me, but may work better for you?

Thank you for that, @Pillowaddict. I really appreciate it.

And thank you as well, @Carboncheque. I had actually heard of PMDD before, and brought it up with the GP. She said, "Sorry, hun, but it's just PMT like everyone else has."

Cool. So everyone else struggles with suicidal thoughts right before their period? 🙄 I took your advice and booked a private gynae consultation, and hopefully I get some better answers than "take some paracetamol and go for a walk to life your mood."

Im so sorry you've been met with such disregard, it's astounding how misunderstood hormones and pain relating to periods are! The impact of the pain for me caused severe anxiety and depression, I really can't imagine how horrendous every period must be for you.

I hope the gynecologist is empathetic, I found being very clear and unemotional about the prospect of the surgery helpful in consultations while detailing the enormous impact everything else had on everyday life. Best of luck and hope you find support to achieve a solution

Whereabouts in the country are you? I can recommend a couple of good private gynae surgeons, one london and one Essex if any help? PM me.

Medical issues linked to menstruation are often dismissed, even by female medical professionals. I hope you get some answers and the help you deserve.
