To cut ties with old friend?

My friend of ten years has a drinking problem. She also uses cocaine excessively. This developed over lockdown and she lost her job due to it.

No one else will speak to her so I feel like I am her last chance. She's asked to move in with me and my bf for a couple of weeks while she gets back on her feet.

She's found a job in my city and says she'll use her days off to go flat hunting. The last time I saw her she was absolutely wasted. She embarrassed me in front of my friends and I had to take her home and put her to bed.

I feel on edge around her. I don't particularly want to give her keys to my house as I don't trust her anymore.
However, we used to be so close. I feel like if I cut ties then she may do something stupid.

Wwyd?

There is no way your friendship will survive her staying an extended period in your home, particularly if she uses.

Your friend hasn't reached rock bottom yet.

If you allow her to stay, in a way, you'd be enabling her. She really needs to see the consequences of her actions.

If you let her stay, she will bring 'her baggage' with her and your relationship with her will fall to pieces.

You say that you're reluctant to cut ties with her in case she does something stupid but if she did something stupid , it will NOT , be your fault whatsoever. It will be because she made that choice.

Your own relationship with your partner will suffer with her there. You'll never be able to have a glass of wine or a beer or whatever. You won't be able to go out to the pub or restaurant as she'll be there, making another embarrassing scene.

And... do you want cocaine in your property?
