Haven’t seen fil for 2 years as he lives abroad in Europe. He finally came to visit 5 days ago and has had 2 Pfizer vaccine and a day 2 negative pcr. He was in contact with someone who had covid, maybe on the flight, and track and trace says he now must isolate for 10 days from contact as his jabs weren’t done in England and by the NHS.

He’s had 2 Pfizer jabs, a negative pcr and no symtoms. He’ll miss his flight home now. Yet my neighbours whole family have covid and she is going to work as has her jabs in England!

Am I being unreasonable to think this is ridic!

I am one for following the rules but I really can't see how where he had his jabs makes any difference....they don't suddenly become less effective!
My friends dad had exactly this situation earlier this week....he ignored it and flew back to Spain as normal

Rainbowsew · 19/11/2021 12:23

That's rubbish, the jab is the jab regardless of where it was given! Pfizer jabs in UK are the same as Pfizer jabs given abroad Confused

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 19/11/2021 13:22

@Munchyseeds

My fil won’t break the rules however crazy they are… so he’s delayed his flight and won’t leave our house… such a shame.!

@Rainbowsew

Yes all the other EU countries seem to be accepting our jabs, why does England always have to be the backward country!

So many of the rules are inconsistent though

Whatwouldscullydo · 19/11/2021 13:27

Are other countries given fake pfizer then?

First it was one jab, then it was 2 , then three, now the country matters even fir the same vaccine.

The moving goal.posts are taking the piss

user1471447863 · 19/11/2021 13:28

yes it is a bit ridiculous, especially if he is coming from a country that can be trusted to have accurate proof of vaccination & records etc
As for the neighbour being allowed to toddle off to work while her whole household is positive, well that although the rule, is ridiculous too. With a household full of it it is likely just a matter of time before she too catches it

Siepie · 19/11/2021 13:42

It is ridiculous. We went to DP’s home country (in the EU) a couple of weeks ago. We scanned our British QR codes with that country’s app, and it generated local covid passes for us, which worked the same as if we’d been vaccinated there.

Until recently, the British system couldn’t even handle people who’d had 1 jab in England and 1 in Scotland.

Mifacagare · 19/11/2021 15:47

It is ridiculous and something I've been worried about when visiting UK, however I saw this on Sajid Javid's official Twitter account, posted yesterday:
" From December anyone fully vaccinated with a WHO EUL vaccine will not need to self-isolate if identified as a close contact while in England. Huge help for British nationals vaccinated abroad who want to come back and visit friends and family in England. "

GabriellaMontez · 19/11/2021 16:15

Another pointless, inconsistent rule.

kitkatsky · 19/11/2021 16:39

I voted YANBU. I guess its because they can’t access Medical records outside of the nhs to prove what he says, but realistically with this being our new world I guess there needs to be a solution. A universal vaccine passport would be one but I know most oppose this for whatever reason

grapewine · 19/11/2021 16:45

That's insane. Thank fuck I haven't had one of those messages, although I probably would have flown home regardless. The rules in the UK seem very inconsistent.

I haven't had to show covid passes anywhere while here, but because my jabs happened in the EU, I'd have to isolate? Crazy.
