Waters breaking?

Sorry, I’m mainly posting here for the amount of people that may see this but also would like to know if I’m being unreasonable.
I woke up this morning at about 3am and felt ‘wet’ but the bed wasn’t wet or anything. I went to the toilet and cleaned up and came back to bed. 6am- same thing, bed still not wet. The wetness is clear, watery and odourless.
I think maybe my waters have potentially broken so I google it 🙄 google said to put a liner in my underwear which I have. The liner is wet (been in since 7:35 ish) it’s now 9:10. Still no smell or colour to It but I constantly feel wet.
Google also said contractions mightn’t start for 12 hours til after your waters break either.

Does all of my water need to come out before labour begins? How do I know when it’s all out? I appreciate most of you probably aren’t doctors, nurses, midwives or any other medical professional but if you’ve experienced the same, that’s even better!

I have a slight belly ache and a few weird twinges. Last night I was super hungry and I don’t usually eat much but I was on a massive food purge last night so could be that!

I had a few things I needed to do today but now I’m a bit anxious to go out, just incase.

Would I be unreasonable in maybe calling the midwife to ask their opinion? I don’t particularly want to drive to the hospital and can’t really
Get There with ease anyway.

Did anyone else’s waters break like this or did they experience the ‘gush’?!

I am 37+3

Thanks in advance!

You’re waters can break before/ during labour and there’s no specific “way” for it to happen. Sadly not a decent answer to your question!

I’d phone your community midwife for advise.

Good luck!

You need to go and have it confirmed as you will need to be very closely monitored for infection. If contractions don't start in 24 hours (mine didn't) they may want to induce you.

If you go to a maternity unit they can test to see if it is your waters and theyll definitely want to keep an eye on you if it is. I think if I remember right they tested my panty liner so dont change right before you go in to see them . Good luck!

You should definitely call your midwife. I called the other day about something random and they were so lovely and told me never to worry about wasting their time with a quick phone call, it's always better to be safe and get things checked out.

Definitely call your community midwives, Your waters can leak and honestly very rarely all come out in a huge splash. You also get alot of discharge leading up to labour

Hi OP,

Sounds similar to my experience- my waters started (i think) 3 days before I was eventually induced. I phoned the maternity unit and they told me to monitor it over night, I didn’t have a lot of fluid leaking at all so they said don’t come in so I left it until it was obvious that it was my waters that had broken and DS ended up being induced and had antibiotics. My contractions didn’t start until the 3rd evening either. DS was absolutely fine but my advice would be as pp’s have said go to the maternity unit and have it checked- if not at least you have peace of mind.
