to expect MIL to produce 1 wrapped present for her GS on Christmas day, considering her 3 GD's all get one, and she is spending the day with us??

MIL said last night she has not felt like going out for a while and therefore has not bought my DS a Christmas present yet, although she has got my DD's.

She told DH she will give us some money for him.

Oaky so he's only just turned 1, but the GC's all get something so AIBU to feel a bit peeved at her blase attitude.

Should also say my DN is only 15 months, so it's not an age thing

I would be royally pissed off BUT just ask for the money now and go and get him something and wrap it up from her. Im sure when she sees him open it she wont forget again!!!! Dont argue about it!

just to add my MIL asked me what DD wanted for her birthday and in the end i just bought it told her how much and she gave me the money!!!

Think I might phone her tonight and ask how much she wants to spend.....

Both SIL and MIL's own DSis have offered to go out for her or with her and she has declined.

Just say you have a toy in mind which he would love and if you get it she can just pay you the money back.

Tbh, we try to discourage people buying out 19-month ds Christmas presents - enough people will ignore us so that he still ends up with a ton of crap gifts but, really, until it means something to him, I don't see the point. Santa will bring something for him otherwise his older sister will be confused, other than that, he can enjoy attention from relatives and scrunching up the wrapping paper.
