To ignore this interview feedback?

If anybody has been following my misfortunes, I've applied to a substantial number of jobs and have gotten to final / higher interview stages. I've gone through the whole process with most of the prospective employers of the first wave and while some feedback is helpful: -not following the STAR system, -not being able to explain my experience to audiences from a different industries. Other feedback has been not as helpful, for the following companies I made it through 3rd and 4th stage interviews to tell me "I didn't have the competencies needed". The last one, which is the one I'm thinking of ignoring in full even suggests I look for completely different types of jobs (mind you I've gone for that type of role too and got rejected saying I didn't fit that profile either!) I know this last cycle I most likely failed it because of language skills, but instead of saying that, they came up with that conclusion of "wrong type of job". Mind you I met with the hiring manager two weeks BEFORE I had the interview in French (which was for the part chit chat), so I'm sure if my profile was not the best for that team, they definitely would have figured that out before wasting the 4th interviewer's time. It's also annoying because it's going against my whole "tactical gameplay" for getting a job.

@tractor I've been many things but nota scrum master. I'm a CSM which means I train, demo, and onboard new customers on their shinny new software.

@often I don't think there's enough data yet to say if the tactics are off or not. I've had more interviews of the CSM roles (aggregated). Give or take there's been 6 roles interviews that have moved to further interview stages. Two were definitely a career change / out of my scope (so expected). One was in Ops (not enough experience/skills but apparently they really liked me as a person). There's been three of the CSM "family" feedback from one is that I could have been clearer during interview (fair enough), second one I don't have the key competencies for their team, and should try with OPS, and third is ongoing with the final interview on the 1st.

I made my point because i remember you mr thread last week about 75 applications but no job offer

Terribleluck · 18/11/2021 10:19

And you do have a point! I think overall in October I was more successful (or at least seems that way). That first month had an interview conversion rate of 20%, which isn't great, but isn't terrible either. Going back into the types of roles I'm getting interviews for, the CSM family gets an interview rate of 40% again maybe not fantastic, but from what I've talked to coaches/consultants/etc... Is fairly decent. I've revamped my CV. The second wave of applications started 19 days ago. The average is seven days to get back to me. If I can extrapolate numbers, I should be able to get 5 interviews from the last wave (that's if that can be done).

What’s your salary expectation?

ADreadedSunnyDay · 18/11/2021 10:25

I disregard feedback generally as I'm usually pretty clear after the interview what I could have done better / differently. A lot of the time official feedback is just something to justify legally why they didn't offer you the job / offered it to someone else. Usually the real reason is there is someone internal who has been prepped or identified for the role or they have approached someone external to apply but they cannot admit that.
applying for jobs is just a numbers game IMO, if you are getting interviews your skill set is the right match for the jobs. At some point you will go to an interview and get the job as you will be the best fit.

Terribleluck · 18/11/2021 10:29

@often 35k which is pretty standard for these roles. @sunnyday I think so too, plus some luck involved too

I'm envious that you get feedback! I've only once ever got feedback and that was to say that I was too experienced for the role.

I've been told I would get feedback - nothing. I even asked in the interview if I would get feedback and was told yes. Nothing. I followed up, asking for feedback. Nothing.

Usually, I get to second / third interviews and then am ghosted.

Sorry. I'm just a bit cross that I put so much time and energy into the process it just feels a bit unfair.

TractorAndHeadphones · 18/11/2021 10:36

YANBU to ignore feedback as experienced people generally know how well they've done.

Have you tried putting OpenToWork on your LinkedIn?

Terribleluck · 18/11/2021 11:04

@Alfonso I like feedback as long as o can act on it. @tractor I think that banner looks a bit desperate (although I am so I guess it doesn't matter) but if everything else fails I plan to go back to my previous previous employer and ask for my job back.

And I just got called in for another interview and they're on a hybrid schedule which I'm not entirely sure I can actually do (I can one day but that's, maybe 2 at a push if the salary is worth it).

4th stage interviews for a £35k role?
What industry are you in?!

Terribleluck · 18/11/2021 15:59

@often tech/digital industries. Bigger companies tend to have several levels of interviews (but even then that's not a given). Big .com I used to work for there were 5 interviews... This time I've had a mix of 1 interview, 2 interviews, 3 interviews (x2), 5 interviews (this last one but only made it to the 4th round).

Oftenithinkaboutit · 18/11/2021 16:07

And I thought the 4 interviews that my ex went through was excessive

For a £190k per annum position
