Without her there would literally not be a book series for them to have turned into movies and profit off so much. Shame on HBO Max. They ough to return all the money they made from this franchise. The greedy bastards!

Whether or not it was her choice not to be in it, it's incredibly hypocritial for the main actors to sell her out while continuing to profit from her creation

logsonlogsoff · 17/11/2021 21:34

She’s just not the sort of person to go for stuff like this. I would imagine that they would have very much liked her to be there, as the creator etc but like many super rich, super famous people, she doesn’t have to be bothered with something she’s not that interested in and it’s not like she needs the money…

Quite. The ungrateful little wretches aren't so determined to distance themselves from Rowling that they refuse to have anything to do with the HP franchise, are they?
CaptSkippy · 18/11/2021 08:27

The results seem pretty unanimous. I am glad I wasn't the only one who felt weird about this. They said she would be archival footage of the filming in the background, though not in interview footage. It seems pretty telling.

Meh. She holds the rights or sold them. Her choice either way.

Sadly actions have consequences.

"Sadly actions have consequences"

What does this mean?

@suspiria777

I can't feel sorry for a billionaire.
So in your world all that matters is money? I think that says more about you than JKR.
Soontobelearning · 18/11/2021 09:27

@CaptSkippy

I never said it was due to her being branded a "TERF", but I'd say there is a 9-out-10 chance that's the reason. They will even have Ralph Fiennes in the reunion, when he didn't make an appearance till the fourth film.
The reunion is about the film series as a whole, not just the first film. That’s why he’s included, and so is Helena Bonham Carter, Imelda Staunton and others.

I don’t find it so weird that she’s not in the film. Apart from promoting the books at the time, JKR is rarely seen giving interviews. In fact, I remember one with Jonathan Ross and one with Oprah Winfrey and that’s all I remember (I’m sure there are more but for arguably the worlds most famous author, there aren’t that many interviews really). She’s a private person. Maybe she was the one that turned it down?

I agree with you that it’s pathetic how the media branded her transphobic and how the main cast members treated her. They should be ashamed of themselves. But I also read Daniel “JKR-is-appalling-yet-I-don’t-need-to-do-research-on-playing-a-white-supremacist-because-I’m-friends-with-some-REALLY-fucking-racist-people” Radcliffe pays homage to her in the reunion.

I think it’s just the media stirring things up as usual.

@StartupRepair

She is a billionaire solely because of her creativity and very hard work. In fact I think she has given away so much money she is no longer a billionaire. I have a lot of respect for her.
JKR is an all round Decent Human Being in my book.

IF she was not invited / included rather than chose not to go then that is very disrespectful & indicative of those involved not being decent imo.

TheKeatingFive · 18/11/2021 09:35

In all honestly, they're clearly too stupid for grown up engagement.

52andblue · 18/11/2021 09:36

But (posted too soon...) I shall vote YANBU as, either way, the actors have treated JKR with a great deal of disrespect whilst their careers will continue to benefit from her writings forever.

MauraandLaura · 18/11/2021 09:44

I would be interested to know if she has wrote the plot for the special. Because if she didn't its most lit to be shit any way. And I wouldn't be watching it. (Just like you could tell when Game of thrones past the books and they got other writers in)

If she did wrote it she has most likely declined to be in it.

But I am embarrassed for the three idiots that tried to throw her under the bus. What a set of pratts.

This.

The main characters come across as childish, grasping wankers.

Why have a 20th anniversary at all as relationships between the creator and the now grown up child stars are so fraught.
