PDSA Lottery or Blue Cross Lottery

I have limited funds but would like to contribute to a charity that helps to treat pets when their owner cannot afford it.

I believe that both of these charities treat sick and injured animals across the UK but have no idea how big a presence they have in England, N. Ireland, Scotland and Wales so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Err...

I do know that the PDSA vet in DM’s area stopped doing it as they couldn’t afford to continue. They ask owners to make a contribution and some would just give a fiver towards £££‘S of vet fees so I don’t know what the actual arrangement is between the vet practice & the treatment fund. Anyhow, it seems there are less blue cross locations lovely idea op.

@MeetMeAtOurSpot

Ah that is such a shame!

I'm not expecting to ever win any of these lotteries and if I did I would probably plough the money right back into the charity so I'm still scratching my head.

In an ideal world I would support both.

Buy tickets alternate months maybe?

I know, it’s hard. So many need support. I’ve just bought a whole load of cats protection Christmas raffle tickets after you posted this thread & there’s an animal charity on Tiktok I follow, I think I will ask DH to sponsor me their donkey for Christmas!

Neither. Just give the money you would have spent on tickets to each in turn.

If you would give the winnings back, why not just give a donation in the first place? There are a lot of admin fees involved in running and advertising these lotteries, plus the winners payout, so a very limited amount of your donation reaches the charity.
