To ask if wool duvets/pillows have made your dc's eczema better or worse

Hi all. I am thinking of getting dd(almost 4) a new duvet and pillows. I am thinking of getting her wool ones as I prefer her to have ones that have less chemicals/synthetic materials etc..Unfortunately she has eczema on wrist, elbow, back of knees. I have already seen gp re. her eczema. I am interested to know if anyone on here has a dc with eczema and is/was using wool duvets/pillows and what their experiences are. Tia x

I just wanted to nip in and say that I found silk really helped my skin. It was a bit on the pricey side so I put off getting a bedset for ages, but it really helped! These days I only use the pillow case, but I’d definitely recommend it!
I agree with others that high thread cotton also helps!

Animal allergy is an allergy to dander, which does not exist in wool.

dander is one of the things that people react to.
I react to wool. I can't be in a room with wool carpet for too long. rooms with horse hair in the lath walls, wool/alpaca blankets, wool duvets.
I react with asthma & eczema.

Yes dander really is only one of the many things! Ive said upthread I can't be in a room overnight with a feather duvet.

For the record many with animal allergies will also be allergic to their scratches, the saliva (being licked) too.

I'm allergic to hay too, so can't handle anim bedding.

Wool is so very common with eczema - my children and I all avoid wool jumpers/cardis etc.

I can only crochet with synthetic wool and not with "real" wool or it would set my hands off!

Thank you so much for replying. I (obviously without thinking too much) bought dd one of those wellie socks made out of merino wool, I'll try them on her and if she doesn't react to them will try with one pillow as a pp has suggested. I am finding it very difficult to find 100% cotton duvets (with 100%cotton filling) which hasn't been treated. I am not sure what " treating " it involves but if it is with chemicals I'd rather not. I think I did find one (can't remember for sure) but I think it's size is bigger than usual so I'll have to get different covers too, while I have already bought her new covers and it's past the return timeframe🤦‍♀️

Dd is not allergic to animals fortunately. She's made friends with a little dog in the park and she cuddles the dog and let's it lick her face etc(with the owners permission), it doesn't cause any flare ups or make her eczema particularly worse

I have eczema (and asthma) and cannot wear wool jumpers, even with a blouse underneath. I have never tried wool duvet/pillow, not sure I'd tolerate it and I'm happy with what I currently use. I have a Jasmine Silk pillow, and a cotton duvet. I would have thought both silk and cotton would work okay for your daughter.
