Wouldn't it be better to let people log in and them have a queue for their area? I'm in a national queue just to log in!

@newnameforthistbread

Does anyone know how many shops you can book in advance? I had to cancel my shop for next weekend to book a slot on December 23rd so have two shops booked. We have the delivery saver pass so I thought I could have more then two booked in advance?
I usually have 3-4 booked at a time (not even at Christmas).
NiceDayForA · 16/11/2021 12:12

I forgot to book any slots till 9.30 but managed to book one for the 21st which I what I wanted with no problem at all via the app.

RuthW · 16/11/2021 12:12

I was on the app at 5.45. Got on at 6.30

Hardbackwriter · 16/11/2021 12:12

I did get emails - one on the 9th and then one yesterday to remind me.

NiceDayForA · 16/11/2021 12:16

@FreedomFaith are you taking the mick or do you live on another planet. You can not be serious with your advice to others

Ariela · 16/11/2021 12:18

@FreedomFaith my spare freezer was free and the fridge was £30 secondhand.

Was the house with enough space for them free/cheap too?

Ariela · 16/11/2021 12:21

@Lougle

I like the idea of 'gliding'. I went to the farm shop today and bought the partridge we'll have for Christmas dinner. They freeze them all anyway, so no point waiting until they sell them all.
I wish we could have partridge for Christmas dinner, but DH doesn't like it. I say glide, because if there is a lull in customers, they see me park, and are so organised they've picked my reservation from their portable cold store before I've even walked in the shop, so it's walk in, pay, walk out. So quick and easy.
Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 16/11/2021 12:24

Managed to log in with no issues and have slot booked at 6.05am with the app. All slots for 22nd, 23rd and 24th december had gone by 6.30am.

Quite litterally you snooze you loose this morning.

However for anyone who osnt a delivery saver custkmer or who missed out they release more at 6am i think on 23rd November (google it). So you can try again.

YetAnotherWalk · 16/11/2021 12:42

I was 166 000 in the queue this morning just wanting to go change my order due tomorrow! Took over an hour, but got there in the end.

Unsure33 · 16/11/2021 12:42

yep 21000 in the queue only to realise i dont have delivery saver any more ):

Ariela · 16/11/2021 12:59

@Hardbackwriter

No, wish it were: usual very expensive but compact / 'bijou' house, aka living in south east.

Our spares do not live in the house, they live in the back of the garage/brick built shed (it's not really big enough for a car), one stacked on top of the other.

The point is obvious though isn't it? You have space to be able to do this. Some families have to squash into a small house and have no extra room. Then there's the extra cost of having two fridges/freezers using electricity so a slightly bigger bill. And the added cost of more food so its a higher food bill you're paying to do all of this. Others live week to week. They can't do this.

namesss76 · 16/11/2021 19:06

I just go to the supermarket at 6 am on either 23rd or 24th December

Fuck that for an alternative!

Travis1 · 16/11/2021 19:17

I forgot until DH messaged asking if I’d got a slot at 7am 🙈 in fairness we were very late to bed after getting home from the Scotland game and even getting into the office for half six was a challenge never mind remembering Tesco 😂 stuck my phone into the queue and got in an hour or so later and got a slot on the 23rd. Sorted

Anniecott · 16/11/2021 21:23

Super saver here, didn't get an email, only alerted due to this thread. The nearest date I can get for delivery is the 20th which is no good for me so have gone for click and collect as hubby can go, but I'm so annoyed about the lack of email, it's one of the only reasons I do super saver. 😡

Travis1 · 16/11/2021 22:00

That’s weird @Anniecott have you checked your spam? Or have you unsubscribed to marketing? I got one last Tuesday and yesterday

Ariela · 18/11/2021 00:34

@FreedomFaith I think you're missing the point: we don't buy more food than normal overall by any means; in December I actually spend less overall even with the turkey if we have one. This is because by using the spare fridge means I can I skip food shopping for a week or two and I also empty the freezer a little more of the home grown veg, plus sometimes potentially pick up some treats/food for January at amazingly low prices, which in turn costs me less overall then, even allowing for the cost of running the freezer (aside from which we have solar that pays for our entire energy use and we make a small profit on top as we're on an early FIT). The fridge and freezer occupy a mere 600mm cube, one on top of each other....the costs to run them are minimal vs what they save. We'll turn the fridge back off by New Year, and the freezer usually empties of home grown veg by about March, then it's off for 3-4 months or so. We only have a small kitchen so only have a small fridge freezer in there. It's fine for day to day use, we only use the spare for Christmas week or when we lend it out (when someone's fridge breaks). Living in the SE does not equate to living in a mansion for many people, myself included.

It's about convenience, saving time and saving effort for me. I don't wish to get up at 5,.30 am and keep hitting refresh for an hour to get a delivery slot, then having to go back in to the order to change what I ordered to what I need, to hope it gets delivered as ordered - and then potentially STILL have to go shopping for things that got substituted/missed off - or run that risk. Nor do I wish to shop at any speed other than my normal very fast in and out, with no crowds done and dusted in less time than it takes to get through an online order (about 15mins using hand held scanner per weekly supermarket shop).

But everyone to their own, I realise I'm lucky not having to shop online, that I live near enough to a supermarket etc.
