To be a bit taken aback?

Been going to my gym for a while now. Changing rooms are a mixed bag of women coyly retreating to cubicles, coyly wriggling under a towel in the open plan bit, semi-boldly stripping off to change but doing it very quickly and the odd octogenarian who obviously no longer gives any kind of a fuck and just gets undressed and dressed in her own good time.

All of these are fine and dandy and I do my best to give them privacy by keeping my eyes focused on my own stuff. This week though there was a woman who made me double take and then not know where to look.

Ignoring the fact that she left all her stuff laid out over an entire bench for the duration of her residency in the gym (ie - it was there when I got there. There when I went to change for the sauna and showers and there when I came out of the showers, so a good 90 minutes) she sauntered out of the shower with her towel wrapped round her head and flip flops on. Nowt else. Dries herself off thoroughly whilst admiring herself in the mirror. So far, so bold, fair play to her, though I wish she'd been a little more considerate of space.

This is the bit that flabbergasted me though and I genuinely want to know if I'm being unreasonable to have wished she'd kept it to home....

Still stark bollock naked she wanders over to the full length mirror in the centre of the changing rooms, which is in a central thoroughfare bit, so everyone has to go past relatively closely to move from one bit of the changing rooms to any other, holding a mitt and a bottle and proceeds to spend nearly 20 minutes applying fake tan to her naked self. I think the worst bit was glancing up as she bent over in front of me to do her legs. I mean, she had a nice figure, she obviously looks after herself, but there's some views that only intimate partners and gynaecologists should be privy to in my opinion, yet I was treated to a good old look.

Aibu to expect extensive nudity and fake tanning to be done in private? Am I a horrible old prude? I had a giggle about it afterwards but I do kind of hope I'm not subjected to that again as it made me rather uncomfortable.

Its showing off, pure and simple. "Look how great I look, aren't you envious? Dont you wish you looked like me?!" and that little cloud of ego will carry her around until her next visit because she "knows" that everyone in the changing room was gazing in admiration at her perfection.

I think I'd be ok with it if she was a stranger as long as it was a proper mitt/wipe for the fake tan and not lotion that sploshes everywhere.

At my old workplace we had a small gym and I always used to see the HR assistant with her fanny out and that did feel a bit weird. Like, go past her desk and think "I've just seen your fanny". But that's my hang up not hers.

I had the unfortunate misfortune to be in the changing room (which has toilets, showers and individual changing cubicles in) with someone who thought it was appropriate to change their tampon...

Performance nudity at its worst. A display like that just screams 'Look how comfortable I am in my own skin.' And I agree, the fake tan bit is just weird.

Years ago at the gym near our work there was an associate from our firm we referred to as The Naked Groomer. All hair and makeup was applied - taking about 20 mins - stark naked. Then she got dressed. Very hard to take her seriously back at the office.

Oh I was shocked at a health centre in Newcastle when a woman was parading around naked! I really think that there’s something a bit aggressive about it. As if they’re presenting that they’re not afraid of anyone. Maybe I’m overthinking it but it is a bit of a mad thing to do!

Don't get applying fake tan in the gym changing room, that is just plain weird.

She just loves the attention. Bit sad really that she thinks she needs attention based on her looks, when they fade how is she going to feel then? Probably like shit. The usual problem with women sadly.

As long as the lady was following the gym rules, then each to their own.

I used to go to a gym where the woman teaching body balance had long chats with the women after in the changing rooms and was naked for ages just talking to people. She had an amazing figure though.

What on earth do you all do with your fake tan that it's splashing everywhere/going on everything??

I've literally never got it on anything other than the towel I stand on while I apply it, and even that's a rare accident spill.

I've put fake tan on in the gym first thing in the morning so that it's developed to be rinsed off that night when I get ready to I go out.

I also do my makeup while wearing my underwear, because it's that flaming hot in our changing rooms if I get fully dressed by the time I've blow dried my hair and done my makeup I'm all sweaty again 😂

I used to have that with a woman that did the same.exercise class as me every weekend. All others in the class would get dressed discreetly, she would walk around stark bollock naked talking to loads of us,face to face. It was excruciating. I think she was showing off her alarmingly large and gravity-resistant boob job.

I walked out from the shower at the gym once to find an octogenarian sitting on the bench, one leg propped up and the other one down, using the gym hair dryer on her lady bits! 😳
