Yes I know I’m BU for posting here but I have just discovered a gamechanger! I really fancied dhall but didn’t fancy the time it takes to cook and walking past the tinned veg section something clicked in my brain. Pease pudding that’s what dhall is! Yellow split peas! It was so quick and tasty!!!

Sorry about all the !!!! marks but I’m really excited with my discovery!!! Grin

Ooh, I love pease pudding (southerner here!) and never had any trouble finding it. I'll give this a go because I love dhal too.

@Bimblybomeyelash

I don’t think I’ve ever had pease pudding. But I always make my dal with red lentils and find that it takes no time at all really.
You can use whatever you want but authentic dishes like dhal tarka are always made with yellow split peas.

Well this is interesting. A bag of lentils split in the cupboard and I was finding them for weeks so punish all lentils I stopped buying them. So a tin that could be mindlessly emptied in might just be a game changer.

Two words for daal lovers: Pressure cookers. Or if you must, Instapot.

There a few different types of dal, my favourite is tarka which is made with yellow split peas. I don’t have an instant pot or pressure cooker. It used to take me ages to boil the yellow peas so my discovery has made me very happy Grin

Not my photo but my pease pudding daal looks like this.
